Make mine a Manhattan

So I was in NYC in early May for a little R&R and it was fantastic as usual. The weather, however, wasn't as it rained alot. Alas I did what any sensible tourist would do and I spent most of my time indoors and saw two shows at the theatre and visited the Met. It was a great time, but the photos suffered. I even managed to see a taping of the Letterman show. Anyway I shot these photos during the infrequent breaks in the weather.

The dumping of Pelham one two three - I was told these were going to be dumped into the ocean and used as artificial reefs.

These next few shots were views from my Hotel room. I was on the 40th floor.

This shot is looking down on the 8th floor promenade which is full of shops and restaurants. The external elevator pods can be seen on the side of the main shaft.

Pablo Picasso - Man with lollipop.

These guys were street performers. The guy does a somersault over the people. I tried to capture it by shooting a burst of photos but had a little technical difficulty. They collected a small fortune from the rather large audience assembled in front of the MET.

Is Hell's Kitchen considered a part of the Theater District? Thanks for the comments BTW.

There are no official neighborhood names or boundaries in NYC, so I would say it's up to you.

But yeah, what is commonly accepted as the Theatre District overlaps with what is commonly accepted as Hell's Kitchen or Clinton.

You are correct sir - nice eye denveraztec. It was indeed the Marriott Marquis Times Square. I recommend it.

great variety of shots. i might stay at the marriott next time for a change of pace...i'm sure the girlfriend will like being back in the theatre district.

speaking of, this makes me laugh...she went to go see it, and told me, "it's artsy, you should go take photos while i see it."
