"Her Secret is Patience" - New art piece / public park in Phoenix
Today was the debut of a new 2.7 acre $34 million urban park in Downtown Phoenix. Great asset to downtown...definitely a new destination landmark. The floating art piece, named "Her Secret is Patience", is done by Boston area artist Janet Echelman. It doesn't look quite as impressive during the day, but like the name suggests...the secret is patience, and waiting for the night...
The name is a bit long...I'd love to see it adopt a name like "The Jellyfish", similar to Chicago's Cloud Gate aka "The Bean".

Wow. Hoover is getting all artsy on us. I like it! I agree with the prevailing opinion: this park looks especially fantastic at night. And somehow, the jellyfish looks even more illuminated in some of your photos than it did in person.

HX_Guy and Hoover... you two have posted about a million pictures of the same one block area, and somehow I didn't get bored and start skipping through them. That goes to show how cool this park is and how many different interesting elements there are in the park (the jellyfish, the landscaping, the lighting, everything) and outside of the park (the YMCA, Westward Ho, AE England, etc provide a great historical back and the new towers and ASU provide a nice skyline backdrop). Keep up the good work with the photographs, you guys have quickly become the best for Phoenix.
Great photos guys! I think you really captured the spirit and energy at the park yesterday. I think the pictures really describe how the experience changes throughout the day and finishes off with a bang at night. At night it is truly spectacular and will sure turn the heads of people around the world.
Now we all need to make sure to use the park as much as possible and bring our family and friends out to see this incredible piece of art.
I gotta say, looks like they nailed it. I wonder if people said this stuff about Patriot's Square when it opened, as well, but I'm very hopeful that this park will be successful. Downtown is in a different place compared to where it was back then. I think the presence of ASU will really boost the park's use and popularity.

Its not too bad, especially in that park. Upon reaching maturity, the trees will shade about 70% of the park. Plus theres the AE England building which provides indoor space and hey, its nice 8 months out of the year.

I used a super long exposure just for fun to see how it would look.

Awesome photos guys. The park is certainly going to become a Downtown Phoenix gem and destination point. The view of the art piece with the skyline in the background at night is quite spectacular. It reminds me of Portland's Pioneer Square at night (minus "Her Secret is Patience").
Those trees are going to be great when they reach maturity. The grassy lawns look like a perfect spot to relax for students/workers during the day.
I'm hoping that this will encourage people to purchase condos in 44 Monroe, what a great location for the park! A true destination point in the heart of DT, maybe now we'll start hearing "Meet me at the Park."??
