I'm pretty sure that For Lease sign also has big green "SOLD" stickers all over it.

I don't know, the signage there is a mess, I have no idea what's happening.

I heard a rumour that there was a pub going into part of that space, Fionn MaCool's. Owned by the group that runs ESM amongst others. There's some chatter about it online, but that's all I've heard.

Not to worry, I'll be posting them

I agree. All the downtown needs now is a new major company looking for big space and you'll have 1855 Rose Street sprucing up eastern downtown, and Capital Pointe needs to get going to spruce up the west side!

The building itself has been Sold - and there's a sign in the parking lot to this effect. Since the Sold stickers went up, a For Lease banner has been draped down the side of the building (in the past week or two)... presumably the new owner looking for tenants.

Just wondering if this is a sign the YMCA rumour is dead, or what the story is.

The pub rumour - while I'd like it to be true, since I live in the area - seems a bit off. I've been to several Prime Pubs in eastern Canada & a couple in Alberta... I just can't picture how any of their pub prototypes fit this structure. Even if the structure underwent a Superstore/Regina Centre Crossing retrofit... maybe I'm wrong.

Besides, the profile Stormer posted indicates "Work type : New construction" and "Works concern construction of a new restaurant/pub location." to me, this sounds more like their "Ground-up Build" model. But I'm not familiar with industry lingo - perhaps a complete retrofit would fit within the "new construction" category (and frankly, I wouldn't have guessed a Consumers Distributing could be converted into a Tony Romas... but it was).

I know the owners/investors. They just finished opening a Fionn MacCools in Winnipeg and they are opening another one here in the Old Canadian Tire building.

So it will be YMCA + pub? Or no YMCA at all?

I have no information on the YMCA, but I know that Fionn MacCools is supposed to go in there.

YMCA is not going in there and Fionn MacCools is not going in the building. If anything it would be a pad site in the parking lot.

The whole building is leased to one tenant and it's not MacCools.

Must have been leased in the past week and a half - since the new owner just put up a giant For Lease banner on the side of the building.

Who's the leasee?

Looks like the Lakeshore proposal is going through. Construction has to start within two years or else they have to re-apply.

Unknown at the moment, but I'm sure Pinnacle or ICR will let it slip at some point.

Cool.

I noticed the old Mohawk gas station is being dug out at Kramer and Centennial. Anyone know if anything is going there or just parking for the strip mall?
