^^^^ I saw a B&W rendering of the proposed Skylab design for West Burnside at a recent neighborhood association meeting. It reminded me of the Hearst Magazine Tower in New York: (from flickr)

If this thing ever gets built, I will buy every last one of you a scotch. For so many reasons, I don't see how this thing pencils out.

no kidding, the chances of this happening seem remote at best.

btw - who's the developer? skylab's just a design company, isn't it?

I am totally with Brian Libby on Skylab and agree that this proposal and the Bside6 are the most exciting buildings happening in Portland or have for a long, long time.

I wasn't sure this was any different from the one on the previous page until I looked at it a little more closely. What did the column say (for those of us who may not be familiar with Brian Libby or know where to find his columns)?

I've heard that rumor again lately. It really would be a perfect location for a W.

I heard about the W hotel possibly going on the Silverado block? Either would be a good addition for the area.

It that is the case...in either the silverado block or the skylab block, that section of town along burnside will become amazingly dynamic, considering the new zgf headquarters, the ace etc...

Do you happen to know if a hotel has been selected?

I don't know.
But I do know for sure that it is a hotel project at this point.

⇑ vaderryderwood: You are referring to the Skylab project and not the Silverado block...correct?

That's gotta be a W. I know W is corporate Starwood, but they seem to have flexibility for that brand. I can't think of anyone else building something with that style, maybe the Heathmen? They were planned for the ZGF tower at first.
