Lol, I even like that one of theirs, cause it's funny and actually not ugly at all. Nothing looks ugly in Montreal. It's just slowly developing as time goes by, inspiring balance, time and elegance.

As a Canadian, I guess you know it better than myself anyway.
I, for one, thought this was an excellent use of the word "glans"

It was more the rest of the comment around it. That usually short and to the point system people use in their second language that comes across as a bit confrontational when typing. You have to make typed english a little bit flowery to avoid seeming like you're on the offensive since tone is absent.

Here's Québec, from Sainte-Pétronille (on Orléans island)

Easily the most underrated skyline in Canada.

I think so, too. From certain angles, it almost looks like an island. It's also easily recognizable! I actually love the mix of industry, nature, heritage and somewhat awfully ordinary towers...

From certain angles, we seems to have a double skyline ( Downtown + Ste-foy ) all up there on the Quebec hill.

Quebec city by me :

Notice that the city second tallest was still under-construction in Ste-foy when I took that picture in 2011.

Have you travelled internationally a lot? Or spent time abroad? It's definitely a ''thing''.

I mean, this anecdote from this article rings so true for me:
http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/the-ugly-canadian-mindset

I once witnessed a guy from Brampton, Ontario, in a New York City hotel bar, actually go and get his laptop from the room in order to show a bunch of dudes from Texas that not only do we have Taco Bell in Canada, but that we actually have a shitload of them. You know, using Google Maps. So there.

But, it's not so bad.

Some countries are viscerally hated by people for bombing the crap out their village and killing their entire family. Or for trying to commit genocide against them.

So, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Quebec really is a beautiful city. Whenever my girlfriend and I sort of idly speculate about "what if we went back to Canada one day?", it's always Quebec that ends up being the focus.

The comments I've made were solely to refute people's knee jerk suggestion that this played into the mousquet exchanges in this thread, a suggestion I vehemently disagree with.

That's an amazing article, and of course entirely true. I've done it in the past to a hopefully not-too-embarrassing degree but try to curb that tendency nowadays.

My last cringeworthy experience was listening to Calgarians in Brazil get upset with Americans and Brits for not having heard of their fine city.

I always want to give the offending Canadian a hug and a healthy dose of self-esteem.

I made a trip to Niagara Falls today, and the air quality was pretty good for taking pix from across the lake. Crappy camera quality, sorry...

Mississauga from Jordan Station: (approx. 48 km)
[IMG][/IMG]

Toronto From Niagara-On-The-Lake: (approx. 60 km)

Pix by me.
