Stantec was at 58 on Friday. They should be pouring 60 next Monday.

There is one tenant (a law firm) currently occupying 5 or so floors. Apparently Cenovus is set to move in this year as well.

It sure is a handsome and unique building, living up to the initial renders..

Look how efficient that floorplate is too. People may find Brookfield's recent designs uninspired, but there's a reason they make them like that. See how little space the core takes up here compared to something like Scotia Plaza. It's a leasing team's dream to market that low of a gross-up factor.

All except for the crown lighting. That could be changing soon though as they have been doing some tests of a new system.

Ah yes, leasing teams dictating design. What better way to destroy creativity.

Many jobs would be a lot easier if you didn't need to consider what customers want.

Telus Sky is turning out to be better than expected. It's a Chameleon. From the ground, and depending the angle of view, we get a herringbone, and sometimes a 3D Escher. It's become my favorite Calgary high-rise.
Definitely the most architecturally unique and interesting tall building in Calgary, it's turning out great!

Never seen anything like that, you can see straight through it. It almost looks like a render.

So how is it that literally every skyscraper built in Calgary in the past 35 years has at least some architectural merit except Brookfield?

Let's just go though them:

Petro-Canada Tower-better than Brookfield
Banker's Hall 1+2-far better than Brookfield
The Bow-far better than Brookfield
Eighth Avenue Place-far better than Brookfield
Telus Sky-far better than Brookfield

All that Brookfield brings to the table is height. No wonder it's empty

I really hope they get the crown lighting sorted.

It would be super cool to see them coordinate with the Calgary Tower on it.

Debatable whether Bankers Hall, EAP, Suncor have more architectural merit than Brookfield. They 're not stand out like The Bow or Telus Sky.

LED is cheap and energy efficient. Every new project has a lighting plan. Older towers are being retrofitted. I'd worry coordination would only add to the sensory overload down the road. Most lighting scheme are choosing super bright over sophistation. This isn't just about Calgary to make things clear.

It's astounding how people at this site will argue anything. There can be one tiny little cloud off in the distance and because of that, they will argue that the sky isn't really blue.

EAP for example, has a top that is reminiscent of the rocky mountains which even lights up at night to simulate the snow-capped tops of the nearby mountains. Even Suncor (which few people, myself included, would consider an architectural masterpiece) has an unusual shape and is also located diagonally on it's lot which makes for some interesting geometry.

Yet a featureless glass box like Brookfield is better?

Amazing

I'm sorry Phil, I don't see how saying I like something is an argument? I didn't put down other buildings or compare this to any either. I am sorry Phil we don't all like the same things as you. Wouldn't the world be some much easier if we all did. Imagine the variety. A skyline full of Bankers Halls, how amazing would that be Phil?

If you can point out where I argued Phil I would appreciate it, otherwise get over yourself and understand everybody here will like different things.

Some "The ONE" updates from UT. The pit is starting to form and the heritage fecade is now floating on a moving platform.
