It's the reversal in roles. You've never been one to back away from telling someone they are being fussy.

Pix by me today.
I wonder if the owners of the condos from "The One" that have to look at that wasteland of boring windows and depressing vistas as represented in this picture get a deep discount on their purchase...this picture should be in the Soul Sucking thread...

They won't have to look at them.

The condo floors don't start until the 19th floor - which will be higher than that brown building to the south.

If you knew the site you would know that comie apartment building is a block away from this development. Also residential units start on the 19th floor So they will be above that apartment building even if it was right beside them. 2 sides of the building face the street, and the west side is offset from it's closest neighbour.

The One appears to be selling well. If you go here you can see how many units per floor are left. 2 of the 4 three storey plus rooftop penthouses have been sold.

Does it matter? That's urban living. You buy for the experience. Views are a luxury.

The slab is a UofT student residence for young couples/families. It could be a good view anyways.

Judging by that - there's 161 left out of 416 - which isn't right - they've sold more than that

The penthouses were going for what? $13 million. That's pretty impressive if they've sold half of them. Shame that for that kind of money they couldn't come up with a better design.

Ah yes I do remember watching the drug dealers climb in & out of the window of the basement apartment trap house in the run down 3 story apartment across the back alley from our condo in downtown Edmonton lol. that was an experience alright

That's a pretty crappy experience. My favourite is watching the couple across the lane go at it as a kid in the late 1980s which is why I brought up the student residence possibly having a nice view. It's still not the same in 2018.

Views are a luxury because it is urban living.

Ah, yes, the usual mocking response that says nothing at all.

Please. Don't spare us. How is it not a luxury in places like Yorkville, The Entertainment District, King West compared to less dense, masterplanned communities like Cityplace/Southcore, Mississauga City Centre or Humber Bay Shore? Owning parking is a luxury in places like King West, Yorkville and, King West too. (So is being able to drive faster than the pedestrian around you.)

My definition of "urban living" is being very specific in light of this being about a Yorkville project than urban living being defined as something like having the option to walk down the block to buy a latte. I've lived at 5 to 10 FSI density. I've also lived 10 to 20 FSI density. They are totally not the same.

What don't you like about the designs? I like how they are 3 floors of living space and one floor of outdoor space. If you like a more typical layout then the SP units are half floor layouts.

I'm fine with the feature stairs as an architectural statement but, I would also want a regular stairs as an alternative and not just an elevator. Another thing I don't like is that the master bedroom floor is shared with a bedroom. The family area is on the floor below. Both those bedrooms should be on the floor shared with the family area while the master bedroom has it's own floor.

I'm used to traditional layouts than these compartmentalized modern plans although I'd never turn away from an ensuite. I do get the concept.
