There is indeed a gap between the Central Business District and "Southcore". It is caused chiefly by the wide spread of railway tracks, as noted above, in and around Union Station. The angle does make matters a little deceiving, however. For example, the building with the angled roof in the centre of the lower area is the Ritz Carlton, I think, which is about 210 m tall. It's just farther away. As also noted above, when and if the construction of the very tall structures at 1 Yonge etc takes place, the apparent gap from this angle will be closed.
I'd argue against that basis. I went there at about 6:50 pm, around sunset time, and left after about 25 minutes because the lake-created wind was VERY substantial.

He's just being a dick because I disagreed with him on Toronto being a cold place where spending millions on outdoor living space next to the lake isn't the biggest bang for your buck. This is based on experience having once rented a condo with a terrace bigger than the unit and living by the lake now. Even if you don't believe me than, explain why Queens Quay retail struggles and a massive plus 15 network connecting climate control retail malls is being built.
I must say I'm really surprised by all the love that Brookfield Place is getting by everyone outside the city. I mean I don't mind it and the glass is nice but it's no Bow or Telus Sky.
I actually think Brookfield is much better than Bow. In fact I really dislike the Bow in Calgary's skyline. Telus sky looks good too though.
If The Bow was skinnier it would've looked better. Interesting design, but it's a chubby one for sure. I thought too that it would be neat if The Bow were to have a LED lighting setup at night like the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong.

Both towers have some massing issues (note: I'm not basing it on how they look in the overall skyline) The Bow has much more interesting element to make up for the massing. The only design element I really disagree with is the spine.
If the Bow had been 10-15 taller and 25% narrower it would be one of the top towers in the world as I see it... but as is, it is awkward*
*i'd still take it

Really? I think the spine is the only redeeming feature of the backside.

Being a "DICK" really? That comment had nothing to do with the other post. I made that comment because it looked like he chose to go out on the Spit what was a very blustery day (March 21st). We had winds up to 74km that day. It had nothing to do with a great condo proposal in another thread. Whippesnapper does somebody piss in you cereal every morning that turns you into such a bitter person and act like such a "DICK" to so many people on this website? Get over yourself.

I still can't believe how nice Harbourplaza Condos are turning out. I've said it a dozen times now but I really thought they would end up looking busy and messy but I like them as much as Ice now.
