Unfortunately, my family and I are victims of the cuts to OGG. From a lovely non-stop flight to a horrible itinerary laying over in Vancouver for half a day overnight. Ugh. Time to call AC to sort this out.

Probably not 100% finalised either

Westjet will be pleased of course!
YWG is moving to Mainline from YYC, but drops to only once per day.

Speaking of WS, in this weekend's update they've extended their schedule into S24. Didn't really poke through it as its mostly a carbon copy of this summer's schedule, but I see hints of MBJ/VRA/FLL/HUX being extended into early May.

YQM resumes in early May, 6 weeks earlier than this year.

SEA also shows 2x daily mainline right from the end of April.

PDX is also scheduled, confirming its just moving to summer seasonal, resuming April 28th.

Right you are - a daily 320 Dep YYC at 2030 arr YWG 2334
Return is Dep YWG 2030 are YYC 2150

Cannot see this being the most popular flight. Odd flight times. Perhaps for a/c utilisation - looks like for YYZ rotations

So let’s say ~ 24-25 mainline (of which 20 are domestic) and ~ 8 jazz (all domestic)

28 daily domestic with two daily transborder, two daily longhaul intl and a less than daily sun intl flight

Wide body domestic action is a once daily 789 to YYZ and a 4 weekly 789 to YUL

A once daily flight from a metro of 1.6 million to a metro of 820k is embarrassing.

Westjet must be absolutely hounding AC if that’s the case.

I’d say that’s pretty obvious! AC has conceded YYC. Westjet’s dominance will keep other carriers out too. One intl carrier operating year round and two operating summer seasonal tells that story

They don’t have much to celebrate out at YVR the last 2 or so years, especially compared to YUL.

You know the AC cuts are drastic at YYC when they will have only 12 more flights per day than YEG

🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 to see AC retract so much, but the frequencies WS operates are pretty intense. 6x daily 737s to YWG and 8-9x daily YLW on a mix of 737/Q400 not including any Lynx/Flair flying must be very tough to compete with.

Yup. Never really thought about it until maybe about three years ago. I would think everyone is having it tough. Time will tell if this 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 pays off or not. It’s certainly possible Edelweiss may not return either. Operating for only 14 weeks twice weekly. KLM seems be happy. As for Eurowings Discover also too hard to tell what their long term plan at YYC is. Unless they do take over AC’s FRA route.

Not sure if they'll eventually do the same as YYZ/YUL, where AC take over LH's year-round flight from YVR, and the AC flight from YYC gets transferred to LH mainline?

Since when the 77F are delivered and new cargo facility opens, YVR will become a major cargo hub for AC. So likely they would prefer using their own plane for Asia/Pacific-Europe cargo year-round, rather than using LH's metal?

Do you think LHR/FRA might be at risk of being cut? It would sort of be nice to see LH at YYC though.

Montreal has sad passenger numbers compared to its population and should never be smaller than Vancouver haha.

Well its far from finalized, they already increased their schedule for S24, starting 5 weeks earlier, and running 5x weekly the entire schedule instead of just in the peak period.

KLM also increased this winter as well, to daily 772.

Well we can agree WS dominance is keeping others out, the positive is without WS YYC likely wouldn't have non-stops to places like AUS, DTW, FCO, BCN or EDI (Some of which aren't even served from YVR).

YYC has tried and failed to support a year-long LH mainline. That's why it went to AC. I think FRA carries a lot of business traffic - if it goes to YVR, we'll just get Eurowings summer seasonal and FRA will get dropped in winter. No business traveler is taking Eurowings, they'll go on KLM.

^ yes so many factors to consider.
I just cannot see any new entrants with Westjet’s dominance.
I think KLM will be the only longhaul intl carrier ongoing.

At least Eurowings seems to be doing well and Edelweiss is staying.

I would say anything for next summer would be far from finalised.

They still need to see how this summer goes. Even if showing in scheds 12 months out. Nothing is definitive at this stage.

But I suppose having two seasonal options is also good!
