The hospital actually isn't on hill, and actually at 30-40 m lower altitude than the houses in the shot. It's a bit of an optical illusion I guess.

And agreed, that vantage point is probably one of the best, if not the best you can find in the metro area. Not that the skyline is anything special, but you can see a very large chunk of it stretching from Orleans to Tunney’s Pasture (and Westboro?), including all of Gatineau.
You might be thinking that the tower silhouette all the way to the east is the Brigil tower at Petrie Island in Orleans, but I think that's way too far east to be in the shot.

I think it might be one of these guys in the east end (Beacon Hill - Gloucester), or both of them blurring together.

https://www.google.com/maps/@45.4471873,...itch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192

I also think that the furthest tower to the right is probably this guy in north-central Hull:

https://www.google.com/maps/@45.4428305,...itch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192

And the wide tower to the left of that is clearly the Hilton Lac-Leamy that is part of the Casino complex.

@Acajack.. yes, that pic was taken from here. Orleans is way, way off to the left.

I don't think there were any houses at that spot in 2010.

If you watch Three Pines on Amazon, they use this place for a couple of episodes. It's right next door.

Ha ha I was just going to post that StreetView link.

Those lots were going for a (relative) steal maybe 15 years ago, before prices on lots and homes took off. Talking maybe 100-125k for a decent-sized lot with a view.

Though at one point the city did more advanced geotechnical assessments on some of them, and a number were deemed at risk from landslides.

Anything that doesn't have a house on it already probably won't ever get built on.

Which means that some of these huge houses will have vacant lots next to them - forever.

If it was next door to me I'd invest a couple of thousand bucks in a bunch of trees and shrubs and grass, and mow it when I do the rest of my lawn.

Like what the neighbours did here. An old cemetery from the 1800s was discovered in the woods behind there, and so nothing will ever get built on this lot.

Oops. Just realized Whipper was referring to the hospital on the side of Mount Royal.

Well, ity's a hefty stretch to say that, but the silhouette can be confused in a quick glance.
I assume you're talking about Parliament

I agree with WhipperSnapper, that hospital on a hill is awesome. Hope it has some robust heritage protection.

As far as I know, it’s the only hospital in the shot. What other hospital were you thinking of ?

I didn't vote for Ken Sim the last election but I will certainly be voting for him next election if he keeps it up. I love just how rational what he said was at his state of the city address:

“I want to be very clear once again, Vancouver does not have a shadow crisis, Vancouver does not have a view cone crisis," he said. "In Vancouver, we have a housing crisis."

I was almost going to say Hamilton looks like Montreal in that shot.

Something about old hospitals and old high schools. From a time when institutional buildings weren't just completely utilitarian.

Just finishing giallo's post for him as he failed to include this print-worthy shot from the weather thread...
