1040 West Georgia, the Grosvenor Building. CWB leased several floors earlier this year and are now the main tenant. They moved from Park Place, 666 Burrard.

That's the one, the tall brown building. Its looks like they're getting ready to block the street.

Lifting from Deadman's Island

https://twitter.com/JustinKaiser/status/1591876636261355520

There's another video of them installing the sign but I don't want to overshadow Zepf's video so I won't link to that

Seemed like the logo/letters took up two flights. Were the other flights for aux equipment for the signage?

Also, from flying around Google Maps I really wonder why they have the sign facing to the west. Seems like it's the most obstructed side of the tower. Unless some bank executives live across the street in ShangriLa..

Here's the MASSIVE final result.
I couldn't make it into the office this morning.
The Grosvenor Building was always very elegant without any signage, now they have the biggest brashest one around.

The signage for FortisBC is so small that they had to add glass where the previous BC Gas "flame" logo was located.

Is there also a sign facing Shangri-La or to the south?

The other set is facing ShangriLa

And here

I'm surprised they don't paint the frame a similar colour to the facade.

The exact same on the Westside. I captured the West facing signage.
Sorry for the wait on the video, I have a Gen7 12 year old computer, it takes hour to render (it's a long video 16 minutes, one day I'll upgrade), I'll get it posted tonight.

Yikes.
I think that the sign is also higher than the top hotel level, too, so into the condo sightlines.
It would have made waay more sense to face it to the south.

The old sign, not sure if there was an earlier BC Gas version or not.

If I was CWB I would have spent money making a nicer looking street level branch then wasting money on the building signage.

The BC Gas logo was just the round flame logo (in blue) (no words) seen here:

Found a pic of it - but not recognizable:

While searching for a photo, I just realized that Emporis no longer exists as of Seotember 2022.

This morning
Helicopter's first sighting at 10:44 am to the last sight of it 11:18 am. A job well done.
Fast forward to 06:01 for the one full install I manage to capture.

Oh they are painted the same colour as the facade. I think it would have looked better if they painted the entire frame instead of leaving the top of the frames untouched.

Thanks for the video Zepf.. worth the wait

I just noticed the helicopter landed at the Waterfront Heliport around 12:30. VIH (Vancouver Island Helicopters) bought like 15 used Sea Kings from the Canadian Armed Forces and they also owned a few prior to that.

Is that antenna mast thing on top of Park Place somewhat new or has it been there for a while? I don't remember seeing anything that large on top of it before.
