These are random stranger attacks? Or total assaults? Somebody punching his wife, high schoolers having a punch-up, etc., counts as an assault.

Even if true, these cities are all much larger in population than Vancouver.

And random stranger assaults aren't really that common at all in Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal. When they happen, they get attention and coverage.

You hear about them, but not really that often.
