The Broadway Subway Project Corporation (BSPC) is in your neighbourhood building the elevated guideway that connects VCC-Clark Station to the Great Northern Way Station.

This work involves drilling piles, the construction of 21 columns that support the guideway, and finishing with the horizontal supports and slabs.

I remember when there were talks of the BC Liberals threatening to halt construction of the Millennium Line if elected in 2001, with all the guideway columns poured, guideway and station construction well underway, and line set to open in 2002.

Sounds to me like there's so much trepidation about prematurely declaring the line to be "under construction" that nobody will dare to do it until opening day...

Well the thread title includes the UBC Extension and that's definitely not under construction yet.

not for this project it doesn't.

my guess is it'll be changed to U/C when the first train goes down it, and completed 6 months after trains have been carrying people.

Temporary works (cassions) for the road deck have been installed.
(assuming that they will be removed after construction and not play some role in shoring up the station walls?)

Why are the Arbutus and UBC Extensions in the same thread anyway? One is happening, the other is planned. Arbutus could be operating before UBC is U/C. Does this thread's title form a black hole at that point?

Totally. Said this before. Each of the projects deserves each own thread due to size of each and that they are separate projects. Also, as mentioned, one is nearing construction while the other will be in planning for quite some time.

Speaking of construction I'm in the camp that nothing has been constructed yet. This is also the SSP standard, where it isn't under construction until concrete is poured. An excavation, moving utilities, etc are all ancillary work.

That being said, column construction is slated to start next Monday [Dec 13th]. However, it will be the same issue there, excavating for a column isn't construction. Concrete is to be poured relatively close in the future, though, so that will finally be construction!

Probably much sooner than the first concrete tunnel segment is placed, I'm assuming?

I'd say title it as "Millennium Line - Broadway Extension (under construction) | UBC Extension (proposed)" so it doesn't look like both of those are proposed.

And yes, even if they are just doing preconstruction site prep, IT'S STILL PART OF THE PROCESS!

It is, but on this site it's not considered 'under construction' until it's 'under construction', not in preconstruction. HAVE YOU UNDERSTOOD HOW THIS WORKS YET?
