Makes it sound like they've already started that..
I think that's in reference to November "beginning installation of the elevated guideway columns"

From broadwaysubway.ca. Some of the work coming up... Broadway going to be a mess for a few months to come. Sounds like eastern stations are the most ahead with decking with each station westward less far along.

Great Northern Way-Emily Carr Station:
• Water line relocation along Earl Finning Way (lot between Emily Carr and Tim Horton's): Notice and Map

Mount Pleasant Station:
• November – December: Installing the traffic deck on E. Broadway between Main and Quebec streets; beginning excavation on the south side of E. Broadway; and excavating the ventilation shafts on Quebec Street.
• January: Completing the traffic deck; and beginning bulk excavation below the traffic deck.

Broadway City Hall Station:
• November: Removing portions of the centre median between W. 7th and W. 12th avenues; relocating sewer lines beneath Cambie Street between W. 10th Ave and W. Broadway; relocating utilities along W. Broadway between Alberta and Cambie streets; excavating the north side of W. Broadway; building the traffic deck between Alberta and Cambie streets; conducting geotechnical surveys; and installing monitoring devices.
• December – January: Continuing the installation of the traffic deck.

Oak VGH Station:
• November: Relocating utilities during the day and some nights; conducting geotechnical surveys; installing monitoring devices; and relocating sewer lines under the intersections of W. Broadway and Laurel and Oak streets.
• December – February: Continuing to build the traffic deck.

South Granville Station:
• November: Drilling structural supports for the traffic deck; relocating utilities; conducting geotechnical surveys; and installing monitoring devices.
• December – January: Continuing to build the traffic deck.

Arbutus Station:
• November – December: Relocating fire hydrants and utilities; installing temporary light poles; shifting traffic north; closing portions of Maple Street; conducting geotechnical surveys; and starting the drilling of structural supports for the traffic deck.
• January – Spring 2022: Continuing to build the traffic deck.

Honestly. With all the station construction too might as well have just gone with C&C.

If you work with the retailers it's probably still cheaper and definitely faster.

I just drove the length of Broadway a couple of hours ago. It was mostly flowing pretty well (in off peak traffic) except at Main, where there was a lengthy backup eastbound because only 1 lane was open.

There was an equally bad backup at Douglas in Burnaby for the same reason.

Cut and cover under Broadway would have led to 1 lane each way for a prolonged period.
Cut and cover under 10th Ave would have been the way to go.

After the road decks are installed, Broadway should be back to 2 lanes each way.

Those notices mention the Cambie median removal north and south of Broadway is for sewer replacement under Cambie.

TransLink rep said there were too many utilities under 10th (plus the VGH ambulance entry).

I know what the plan was. Buuuuuut so far they've taken longer and had more disruptions at every stage. So we'll see how it all goes...

What disruptions? Other than Main Street sewer work and lack of street parking there seems like it's not affected traffic in the area that much.

As somebody who lives and works in the area, the Main St. sewer repair was a nightmare. It's better now but still very slow, parking and turning restricted in a number of places.

And of course, everybody is avoiding the area unless they have to, making everywhere else busier.

A few hooligans are putting themselves in peril trying to get around the fence.

Be safe. This is what it looks like today."

Maybe future contracts should have something where daily or weekly photo and video updates are posted publicly.

We will get some really great shots once the TBM/s are assembled

How come Translink does not have a photo service documenting the progress

We need live cameras on construction sites like what they did for the PMC/Evergreen Extension.

Yeah, regular photo updates or a camera will cut down on people trying to take their own. Good PR too.

The type of person that takes a photo of a subway excavation won't be satisfied by a webcam.

Translink isn't building this project, the Province is.
