Not totally direct but passengers on the south side of the station can access the Pedway system by entering through the library's basement.

If they go into the library and then down and walk that distance. It's not convenient. There should have been immediate access on the south-side platform. People are not site seeing - they are going to work, school appointments and time is of the essence.

That involves crossing one lane of eastbound 102 Ave traffic and a two way bike lane. I think crossing the tracks will be the easier.

I think the cafe that was in that building is not coming back right? They could've repurposed it as a warm waiting shelter for passengers waiting for Valley Line trains and had westbound trains curving aroung the north side of it. They could still totally do it, it's all above grade.

On another note, just got home from the Elks game. Thank goodness for 5 minute trains again. They had LRT replacement buses the first couple of games and why handy, they were slow.

The city should have done that to begin with and added access to the pedway at the same time.

Indeed. Plus I really like then new Stadium Station for getting off of trains... problem is people don't move to the middle when getting on and so it backs up quite a bit. Still much improved though.

People have to cross one lane of street traffic; what a first world problem.

Given Light Rail is going to be extending past the Henday it hardly seems all that far fetched. Airports are big employers and trip generators, and good transit is especially valuable for low cost airlines like Flair. Also the feds are throwing infra money around so why not take some and come up with a good plan . . .

Exactly, plus once the Capital Line is extended to 41 Avenue NW it is more or less a straight shot south through farmland with no required grade-separated crossings until the airport. I could see only one station being added before the airport at the Discovery Business Park which would help lower costs as well.

Why are you laughing?

Harrison gave a lot of good reasons in his post as to why it would work.

Drove along the route this afternoon thinking no way the roadways will be completed by years end. I hope I’m wrong. (going by their rate of speed thus far)

Most of downtown is complete. Connors Road is complete. 95 Ave and 83 St asphalt is mostly complete and they're doing concrete and brick right now. 75 St seems halfway there. Mill Woods is mostly complete.

I've heard that the Churchill Connector is still behind schedule. Can anyone confirm?

Lots of duct and diffuser sheetmetal sitting outside. and it never seems to have anyone working on it. But I will check with some knowledgeable people tomorrow.
