also, unless they're allowing cars to make a left turn out of the alley north of 102ave, car leaving Fox1and2 parkades will have drive all the way up to 103rd avenue now.
My understanding is everyone will have to exit that lane north to 103 Avenue. There is no access to the 102 Avenue east-bound lane over the tracks.

What's interesting is that seems to indicate, they plan to make the 3 alleys they're closing down into a sort of cul-de-sac (assuming that's what the grey polygons are for)

I know some cities won't allow garbage trucks to back-up (not sure of CoE). I feel like they have no option but do that here in these closed off alleys regardless of what they have planned for the alley ends.

Better triple pane those windows and get A/C near 107 street.

I once stayed near an at grade LRT with a turn that tight, and the wheel screeching when making the turn at all hours made it impossible to keep the windows open. Luckily it was just a 1 week stay - but it was definitely good learning for myself.

People will get used to it, much like people in Toronto living along streetcar track turns there (they can get very screechy).

Nobody I have spoken with has any idea what they're in for. Note how many of the renders indicate a single lane of traffic or sometimes two lanes of traffic but with a sole automobile zooming effortlessly through unmarked intersections and often with smiling pedestrians admiring the terrain. Nobody in the renders ever jaywalks and there's never a traffic jam to be seen.

And, as another poster noted, apparently nobody ever has to move in or move out of an apartment either.

I like living downtown and most of this stuff is purely entertaining. I keep wondering why they don't just ban automobiles in the business core entirely. It would be a lot more realistic than what we're imagining.

Any thoughts this morning on the new bus routes now that they're operating as they were actually designed, with 29 routes operating at 10 minute frequency or better (30 including the LRT)?

Up to now, service has been heavily depressed by COVID and the usual summer reduction.

It will either go to the airport or another line and service will go to the airport. Let's hope it is within the next 20 years. Major employers and housing in the annexed lands will drive demand.

If Edmonton wants to really take a risk and be bold, and get ahead of the game while setting the region up for well into the future, LRT service to the airport needs to happen a lot sooner than later and perhaps well before Calgary does for theirs.

I have spoken to several individuals who have set up companies or organizations in Calgary who have maintained that the reason they didn't choose Edmonton was due to the airport being so far out of the City. If Edmonton pushed to be the first city in the province to have a fully operating LRT line to the airport that could be a big advantage for the region, transportation, the airport, and business development.

Oh gawd, can we not start a Transit Fantasy thread in the Edmonton subforums? The Vancouver forum has one of those and it saves me having to read though post after post of pie-in-the-sky.

Federal Conservatives pledge funding support for two Edmonton LRT expansion projects in election platform

Author of the articleustin Cook

If elected, O’Toole said his party would move forward with the already-approved 4.5-kilometre Capital Line South extension and “immediately prioritize” the Metro Line LRT expansion from Blatchford to Castle Downs. The Metro Line extension has previously been highlighted as council’s next priority when dollars are available.

^ Is it not proper on maps to have North pointing up instead of west?

Agreed, but this is positioned above doors on trains and in linear environments within the station... hence the layout/orientation.

What I don't get is why they are not mirroring/using the COE Wayfinding standards for this. We just spent 6 years and millions to get here and the above does not seem to reflect those standards.

^ I can guarantee you this will be brought up by someone other than me

It is confusing and thus normal for Edmonton.
