The sensible thing to do would be what they did at 57th: build the line to accommodate a station there but wait for a developer to pony up the bucks for it.

I would tend to agree.

The Sasmat/Blanca Station is really "Jericho Lands Station" - so I would expect a cost sharing formula to pay for that one and then it'll be added to the initial construction (the same way Lincoln Station was added to the Evergreen Line after a deal with Morguard and Olympic Village Station was added to the Canada Line after the City of Vancouver pitched in). It being likely underground could be the kiss of death to target it as a "future station" unless it is wholly within the Jericho Lands and could be excavated around like at Gilmore Place (but around an underground tunnel).

I could also see a "future station" on the Univeristy Golf Course lands (probably elevated). It wouldn't be developed / built for 50 years (when ever the lease runs out) but even underground could be feasible there as could also be a massive excavation around the tunnel.

Westbrook Village Station could be cut, but I would expect UBC to contribute to the cost of both UBC Station and Westbrook Village Station and maybe guideway, like YVR did for the Canada Line. It would be elevated, I would expect, and could also be a future "add-on" like VCC-Clark Station (but due to cost, not RoW bickering, or maybe the folks at TRIUMF might protest the vibrations).

It would be interesting if they could swing closer to West 4th near the Jericho lands and a station that might support passengers headed for the beach.

why was that station built? did the future plan to get rid of the commercial area and turn it into residential?

Says they wanted to make a high-tech business park near there.

Saputo's new PoCo plant is finished so I guess we might hear development news on their old site soon?

Sasamat/Blanca Station would exist to serve Point Grey Village (or rather, what's left of it) like it does now - unless TransLink expects all its residents to walk all the way there or to Alma, Jericho Station needs to be somewhere near/on the actual site.

Yep, walk, or take the bus. I think when it comes down to actually having to put down the money the decision will be not enough people to justify the $30 million or so cost at this time for a low numbers station. Maybe in the future.

Sure they can add x-number of stations after the initial opening, that's a given. The prize is for the question of "how many stations will be included in round one".

I figure a station at the southwest corner of the Jericho lands would be within walking distance of Point Grey Village.
The trade-off for Point Grey Village being less pressure to redevelop and densify.

Two things. First, reconciliation isn't furthered by a paper station, nor is transit-oriented development (exactly how do you run a bus west of Alma?). So there's a political motive in getting it built.

Second, both Lincoln and Capstan actually got built. We don't know the timeline for the Lands or the SkyTrain, but we can safely assume that if Jericho gets developed before or during the UBC extension, then the MST will most definitely make sure there's enough money for a station.

Depends on how far people are willing to walk; a Trimble Station could easily capture both, or neither. Since we're trying to get as much transit mode share as possible - and since PGV is currently on life support and may welcome a station - there's a good chance the City will opt for one each.

Once the land use plan comes out for Jericho you'll realize there is no energy to put a station that services Point Grey Village commercial strip at 10th.

Yes yes, with enough time and money anything is possible even a multitude of infill stations. Water is wet and so on.

Let's hear your station list predictions for stage-1 (if it ever starts).

Here's mine, THREE:

- Macdonald
- Alma
- UBC (Wesbrook Mall & University Blvd)
