But there's no 'demand' at the moment. Vancouver has excess school capacity overall, but not in the right locations. This replacement has been planned for several years, is badly needed, and the funds have been allocated.
Senakw is a more recent project that's come from nowhere, and even now we have no idea what the unit mix is, or how many kids an all market rental cluster of towers might generate. (If you took Citygate as an example, there are very few kids going to VSB Schools from the market towers. The ones that are there are almost all in the non-market family housing. That's true in Coal Harbour too).
Concord's project might be decades away - it's not to zoning, and Metro would have to agree to remove it from industrial zoning, even if the City supported it.
The Province isn't going to put funds into building a bigger school that might be needed one day - particularly as the site could easily add more building in future (unlike Coal Harbour for example). If the Squamish Nation or Concord were willing to put cash up to make the school bigger, maybe that could happen. Otherwise there's a line of projects to replace schools that would kill their pupils if an earthquake came at the wrong time, and the Province isn't about to divert the funds from those to some vague future need, however 'logical' it might seem in a perfect world.
