Wow they have to relocate that stuff? Is that easier than going deeper with the train in that area? Is this the only place that needs to happen?

It has to happen wherever they excavate from ground level (i.e., for stations). It doesn't have to happen when they're boring well beneath the surface with the Tunnel Boring Machine.

I think it would end up costing more to lower the station than making those sewer lines.

Here are some pics from today of that block of Broadway between Cambie and Yukon.

The retail building at Yukon (Rosewood Furniture?) was recently torn down.

April 10 '21, my pics

As has been stated publicly, the stations are still going to be open cuts.

I believe the station box for the Main street station is going to be entirely west of the main & broadway intersection. That would leave only the bored tunnel underneath the intersection itself. Perhaps the existing sewer will intersect the tunnel?

Could be. Tunnels look to be 2 levels down (who knows how deep though).
Could also be that the sewer pipe is so old that it wouldn't survive being suspended across an open cut.

Yes, the station looks to be wholly west of Main:

Can't recall if these have been posted -

Infrastructure BC Broadway Subway Project Report
https://www.infrastructurebc.com/wp2/wp-...-BC-Broadway-Subway-Project-Report-1.pdf

Project Agreement (Redacted)
https://www.infrastructurebc.com/wp2/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Project-Agreement-Redacted.pdf

... I scanned but did not see any redactions in that Project Agreement. Even contact info was visible.

I saw some appendix documents in that folder and they seemed to have redacted sections. Not sure if contact info is something they redact from the documents.

Maybe if it's the Province's form of contract, all of the sensitive commercial information is in the Appendices.
There are some [Not Used] sections, so that's probably the case.

Of interest, default for failure to meet Substantial Completion is in Section 12.1(r), but the only remedy for default under that section appears to be termination - I didn't see a liquidated damages (ie penalty) clause for payments for each day of delay.

It's going to be neat that for a short period of time you can stand on Broadway and have a clear view of city hall with no buildings in the way.

Those trees at the street behind those buildings obstruct City Hall fairly badly.

I'd rather pour bleach in my eyes than look at that monument to mediocrity.

Great building, shame about the tenant.

I was looking at some of the preliminary 3D renderings of the stations, and I noticed all of them (except for Broadway-City Hall) have the old Millennium Line-styled signage on the entrance instead of Translink's current signage (which was shown on the pre-engagement concepts). Most likely a placeholder, or the 3D modeller did it for the sake of nostalgia or something...

Renderings generally use a lot of placeholders, from minor signage to vehicles

Public Open House
Station Design Advisory Process

April 21, 2021

You are invited to attend the second virtual open house regarding updated station designs prepared by the Province’s contractor, Broadway Subway Project Corporation.

The purpose of this open house is to summarize the feedback received from the first open house and to present the proposed final designs for the above-ground portions of the stations, including additional information about landscaping and station art, next steps for construction, and how to stay involved.

Participate online at https://broadwaysubwayproject.civilspace.io/en between April 29 and May 12, 2021. Input from this open house will be considered in the finalizing the station designs.
