This is a good point and I would add that I question the logic of spending any money on additional office space in a time where there is a considerable shift towards working from home at least a significant portion of the time. Perhaps we are transitioning from vacant downtown office space to more vacant suburban office space?

The Proposed Development reads:
"The applicant proposes to replace the existing SGI claims centre with a
larger SGI claims centre (4,000m2 building)."

You can even see the two overhead doors in the rendering for the drive-through claims centre!

Funny, I can see that it is going to be replaced with a larger claims centre. And with a claims centre, there is a need for office space. Whether the entire space on the second floor is required for the claims centre is something that you will need to ask SGI because you are so concerned about lipping off that "this is not a claims centre".

Thank you for demonstrating your ignorance. By your logic as long as we attach an unrelated use to office space it ceases to be office. Amazingly convenient.

I propose that we add 3 more floors to the North SGI Claims Centre while we're at it.

Given that SGI's main requirement is more space for the claims department office staff and that they were looking at office buildings to move into, it's pretty damn clear you have no idea what you're talking about. I bet you think the 145 parking stalls are for SGI doing 145 claims at a time.

Would be a good time to renovate the outside facade of that pedway anyways. Would love evening LED lighting on it and a more modern look.

It is definitely in need of a renovation. When it rains, they have to put pails inside the pedway to catch the dripping water. As for LED's, I doubt that they would be allowed as they could be a distraction to drivers.

Harbour Landing West is beginning to make its way through the approval process. It notes that the new joint-use school which is sorely needed will be in this new subdivision.

Why wouldn’t LED lights be allowed? Have you ever been to Dundas and Yonge Street in Toronto?

LED lights on the pedway would make it more visual at night, let alone, it’s a 2 direction straight street.

Lakeview Community Association is going to council to ask to build a pump track. Construction to start in May and take six weeks. Map in news article.

I suspect that houses in Lakeview would have it worse as they're right under the flight path, but at least this development has commercial/industrial nearest to the runway/airport.

This is obviously a complete hypothetical, but would there ever be appetite to move the Regina Airport from its current location, either further west a few KM or to another location? It is already getting to the point where the Airport is becoming surrounded by development, in some cases causing issues for the airport. COVID will push back the necessity for a move, but I could see this becoming a more serious issue within the next 10-20 years.

Don’t think that would happen ($$$$). And other cities have airports surrounded with no issue. Also there isn’t any mention in the current airport master plan regarding a need to move the airport.

Both the airport and city don't want this to happen, but I think it's inevitable.

There isn't a bigger city in Canada with an airport as close to their downtown.

Edmonton moved their airport. It was about 4 km straight north of downtown. Regina International is about 3 km west of downtown.

I agree. I'm an 'AvGeek' and miss the beautiful noise. When I do hear one of the very, very flights into and out of Regina, it is music to my ears. Even when things were 'normal' we really never had that many planes to even be considered bothersome. Even the overnight CargoJet flight is quieter now that they use Boeing 757's. Their old 727's were a different story, as the tri-holers were one of the noisiest jets (not including the RCAF's CF-18 Hornet that make infrequent visits to YQR, or the once-in-a-lifetime visit by the Concorde).
