I’m on the ground here Davey honey, every day. What I hear definitely isn’t always accurate, and that’s the nature of the rumour mill, I simply share what I hear around the place and I never claimed otherwise.

As for the GC being an absolute pile of garbage, that is a fact, and not a rumour. Ask anyone who works here. They have zero idea how to build a project of this scale. It’s been NEARLY TWO YEARS and they still haven’t finished the STRUCTURE, let alone the envelope. They still can’t figure out how to successfully put together the first floor of apartments because they have no idea how to push forward a schedule. Subtrades are literally standing around doing nothing half the time because nothing is progressing. TWO YEARS to get to THIS point? Put it together yourself. It’s a laughingstock. Sure it’ll eventually get finished. But we’ll still be slow-motion looking at pics of it until 2023.

That’s often the view from people not in the know. Sometimes some projects go awry from outside factors. It throws out planning and scheduling, but doesn’t mean it’s poorly managed. It’s not reasonable to expect multiple contractors to not supply on time. Let alone a global pandemic. But to say it’s seriously being considered to be capped at half height? I don’t know what to say about that. Or crane not going up until December? I guess we’ll see next week.

I just post what I sometimes hear from people who are close to the project.

I have heard things I can't repeat but all in all I think the project is going well considering everything.

I haven't worked with the trades a lot, but in my limited experience they rarely give each other much credit for knowing their jobs. Electricians think plumbers are all idiots, plumbers despise concrete finishers, etc. It just seems to be part of the "culture" at times. I don't know, can anyone with more experience in construction say whether this is the case? That could account for some of the negative buzz that gets reported here??

Whether or not you agree with everything WinCitySparky says, you have to admit that this project is proceeding at an excruciatingly slow pace. Two years in and the structure is barely past the halfway point... and that's with the foundation and footings already in place on day one of the project.

This observation can be true depending on the site, but everyone actually gets along very well on this site. It’s one of the least toxic and most diverse sites I’ve ever been on. It’s just extremely inefficient and dysfunctional operationally.
