A venue like this would boost the appeal of the area. It's in the capacity range that be perfect for the region and make it more accessible for acts that can't fill Rogers Arena (19,000 Seats) or Pacific Coliseum (17,500 Seats). It would be better connected to the rest of the region than the Langley Events Centre (5,276 Seats) or the Abbotsford Centre (8,500 Seats).

I believe one of the problems with the Surrey City Centre area is that there isn't much to do and it isn't much of a draw for people to visit from outside the area. I know the festivals in the park do draw quite the crowd, bit beyond that it's a bit of a ghost town. I really hope they still plan on bringing a live performance venue like the original plans. A larger 2,000 seat theatre and a smaller 500 Seat theatre would be perfect additions in the future.

Hmmm, that could be on the lion's training facility. Definitely enough land on that site for something big.

I think an outdoor Stadium that they could share the cost with Lions would probably work the best.

Not nearly enough space there. The lot needs to be close to 500' x 330' for a 10000 seat stadium. It would be a shame if it cant triple as a soccer stadium, basketball court and ice rink. Allows for much more flexibility of events.

I was thinking 105 ave and King George... great location just outside the CBD or 108 ave and city park way where there's temporary shelters... right across the Skytrain station.

I don’t understand how you expect the land there to be vacant long enough for a stadium. The reserved Scott Road lot and the Parking lots around it are probably the best choice. People don’t like living next to stadiums, and yet it’s close to both New West and Surrey.

They squeezed in rogers arena in a tight space just fine. Also, there are tons of people that live beside that and be place and don't have a problem

And then they have to restrict concerts and events to appease the neighbours.

Shift,

Can you provide any insight as to when there might be more information regarding the development of the Centre Block of the Central City neighborhood? The Rec Centre shut down a good two and a half months ago. I was hoping there might have been an update in the meantime.

Thats very rare. but yes the city should've made sure that there was a noise right of way in that area or something. .

I don't believe anything has been made public yet. SCDC is leading the project, so could expect a news release out of them sometime this year maybe, coinciding with an application submission perhaps.

I know that some of my sources with SFU have been involved on this as well and they obviously know what's going on. I unfortunately don't know, but I have a front and centre view for when they get started on this development.
