So would I, but 2 at near 500 feet is even better.

Two would be perfect at this point.

A couple 500 footers would not look out if place at all. Not even close to comparable to OKC

Wouldn't get your hopes up on Kensington going taller. Decisions based on market demand projections for unit counts and parking stalls don't change because someone else is threatening to build taller.

I saw a post on the Salt Lake Green Bike Instagram page saying that they are moving their station in front of the Yardstick (40 E 300 S) because it is going to be redeveloped. Has anyone heard about this? This is a site that has been shuttered for decades. So glad to hear something may be happening there.

I don't know what is going on there but I did find this advertisement for the property saying "Build-to-Suit Opportunity." https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/40-5...y-UT/16186650/

I work in the building next door to it and lately I believe our building owner has been doing a lot of walk throughs with prospective clients on what's around, what's developing etc.

Seems like they're starting to gain some attraction. Could be unrelated, but in the 3 years I've been there, I haven't seen this. Maybe 3 times a week people walk through the space and look out the windows and talk about developments.

Just a little input.

Heh cryptic enough for you? I do not have much more info than that, so it may just be some variant of the renderings we've seen (see Atlas's post) but that was very preliminary. The city is really holding their feet to the fire to do a signature tower. Also note that the footprint has no choice but to be skinny, especially the East-West aspect, so no chubby, squatty bullshit on this one. I know there is lots of well founded skepticism on tower proposals, but Hines is the biggest player in SLC right now and they doth not F around. They have towers all over the world.Shanghai, NYC, Chicago, Salesforce in San Fran etc. But my favorite tower on the planet right now is their 53 West 53 "MOMA" tower in NYC. It's a bloody masterpiece and one of the more compelling Super Skinny towers on the planet. Saw it in construction a few months back. UMMM YEAAAH, so this is Hines:

The fact that Cushman Wakefield is involved is very encouraging. It seems like they could restore the facade behind it or rebuilt the original facade.

Does anyone know what the original facade looks like? Way back wasn't this also a theater? I think there was a fire and a number for firefighters died in the blaze.

I think the original height works better in the context of everything else. A tall 375' res. tower is perfect at that location. Right now, I think it looks too overwhelming.

I don’t think it would be a problem. As someone just stated the smaller foot print would give it a more slender design closer to 99 west in the CC development. I’m also hoping a tall flashy residential building downtown would make an impact on the average Utahn psyche to take a second look at living downtown. We are getting good infill development. Now we need the shinny tower to lure the hipsters in.

Woa. I thought that project had died. With all the new residential being proposed, it's nice to see some office going forward.

Why would any of you be weary of a thin tall tower? A lot of SLC’s tall buildings are fat.

This is a great sign, that a long term car dealership is being displaced with residential development.

Not sure I've seen anybody be weary of tall and skinny. I think we are all stoked.
