Also Hainan insists it still intends to resume service March 31. I would place odds of that actually happening at 5%. Still only available in full fare C / Y class.

Italy currently has ~200 people infected, out of a population of 60,000,000 that's really nothing to fear. On top of that media outlets and people are hyping the virus up like it's the new plague when that is clearly not the case.

Actually all 5 remaining B763s at mainline are ex. CP birds. (Delivered between 1989 and 1991) Oldest one is 30.9 years old. (C-GHOZ)

Oldest A320 at AC is C-FDQQ and is 30.3 years old.

Forget about the virus.

Markets are crashing. Chinese factories are still closed, meaning goods aren't leaving that country. Businesses that rely on those goods will suffer/shut down globally. People will lose jobs. We will be in a recession in 2020. Discretionary spending will stop. Meaning leisure flights (such as YYC-FCO) will most certainly get cut. Not just in YVR or YYC, but at all Canadian airports.

YYC's January numbers are pretty bad. The rest of the year will be even worse. (Ironically enough, passenger traffic in Asia-Pac even recorded an increase in January 2020 of 2.7%).

WS's timing for long haul expansion is pretty shitty. But we knew that already.

There should be an ash tray in the door. Yes its illegal to smoke in an airplane. Yes it has caused catastrophic loss of life and planes. Yes there are smoke alarms in the washroom.

However, somebody is still going light up. When inevitable happens, there needs to be a safe place to put the cigarette butt. So that is the reason for the ash tray in the door.

Lots of planes still have ashtrays. I was on an AC 777-200LR earlier this week and it had one in the lav door. Those planes entered service post 2006.

Perhaps what Cage meant is when the smoker is caught by the cabin crew and the cabin crew needs to keep the cigarette as evidence to present to the authorities, that the cigarette needs to be put out and saved. The ashtray is the logical place to safely put it out before presenting it to the authorities.

What i actually find more strange than an ashtray on an old plane is the non-smoking sign above every seat on a new plane. Really? Is this still necessary?

Instead of the non-smoking sign they should put a $ sign there which represents a fine for the moron that gets up to go to the washroom when turbulence starts and the captain turns the seat belt sign on.

WS has those 4 767 that were dragged out of retirement in the desert. Those can be retired again. There fleet has not grown very much.

AC has now removed AC9/10 from the schedule until May 1. This is our first COVID-19 related cancellation. As for HU it is still open for reservation in full fare C/Y class.

Hainan has also confirmed its seeking assistance from the Hainan provincial government to manage it debt. No word on whether the brand stays intact or will be sold to one of the three state owned carriers.
