We did a study and it showed:

55% car
17% LRT
14% bus
The rest - other - bike, walk, uber etc.
is that just for downtown or the city as a whole? What about a region as a whole?

5 out of 16 in the winter = 31%. There weren't any changes at all when we moved to the new tower, all the drivers either adapted to the significantly higher parking rates or parked further out. LRT access wasn't remarkably better, about 700m from Corona to the old office vs. 525m from Churchill to the new office.

you’re correct - i didn’t use the part time transit rider so maybe 28% instead of 25 or 31. as for the distance to lrt, it’s not just the distance, it’s being able to do most of it inside instead of all of it outside.

Inside adds about 50 to 300m depending on how determined you are not to step outside at all. To stay completely inside, you have to go through Bell Tower, Edmonton Tower, JW Marriot, then backtrack to Stantec Tower. It's too bad they didn't build a pedway from Edmonton City Centre to Stantec Tower.

Very disappointing. I'm half expecting ETS to announce that the new route network will not be rolled out this September...

Wait, what? They still use paper transfers? Honest?

agreed, although you’re only 1/2 block to city centre’s delta suites entrance which is a lot less convoluted although not 100% indoors.

There were days where the windchill which seemed to magnified between the downtown buildings were so bad that the walk to Delta was horrible.

Yea, but to be fair, Kelowna also uses paper transfers.

Should I not get you started that the LRT TVMs don't accept debit or credit cards?

Man the entire Valley Line LRT has been amateur hour in terms of construction and design. That bridge and the Whitemud overpass should've had steel beams and the elevated guideway should've been precast concrete segments strung together with post tension cables.

Many of the infrastructure projects over the past decade have been amateur hour, I'm not surprised by your observation.

Some that immediately come to mind are:
- South LRT University Ave and 51 ave crossings.
- NAIT LRT
- Jasper ave renovation (7 years now, and the light standards are still not finished)
- Walterdale bridge, those beautiful weld plates

All these projects finished behind schedule too.

I don't agree with anything you said when it comes the choice in construction methods.

Agree 100%

Sometimes i don't mind a screw up as a sub engineering subcontractor if the advantage is to me.

But as a taxpayer

I did the hardness engineering on these plates. And this was also a gong show. Chuck barris would have been proud.

Our city council really has no clue.....they really don't. And this is a fact.
