My idea for naming streets would be:

Randomly pull names from the already-existing list at City Hall
Allow the developer to veto up to 10% and rename
After each random pull, each remaining name gets another entry so that it becomes more and more likely for older names to be chosen

This way you will use the good names already chosen by the city and community, and developers will be able to veto a few if they find them not fitting.

These are jokes, right? I know the street name isn't the key factor when choosing to buy a property, but I wouldn't be cool living on Weasel Way/Street/Road/etc... it would definitely be a tipping point, all other factors being equal.

No they were actually on the list along with lots of other flora and fauna. I did not mention Rattlesnake, Greasewood, Swallow and Rubberweed were also dropped.

I missed the word "dropped" in your original post - I thought these had been accepted. I can see issues with 3 of the names above... teenagers (the young'uns; whippersnappers; ne'er-do-wells; etc) would be stealing/defacing those signs like crazy. Rattlesnake seems OK, though (not that I love it, but it's not terrible)

barBurrito is coming to Harbour Landing - going in the last spot in the strip mall that has Meltwich, Harvard Western & Massage Experts.

A bit disappointing, since the original rumour was Tamarind..

Today I saw that at the old Burger Baron on Quance, they've finally taken down the signage on the building and seem to be renovating. Anyone heard what might be going in there?

With the new Co-op open on Parliament in Harbour Landing, anyone know what the plans are for the old store at 25th & Albert? I see the pharmacy is still open (presumably, the location is a magnet for folks in Marion Estates, but is that the long-term plan, or will the pharmacy move too)

I’ve heard Jollibee and they’re hiring for a Quance St. location, so that makes sense.

Wow, I had never heard of Jollibee before but I see they have over 1200 locations around the world. In 2018 they announced that they would be opening 100 locations in Canada. It looks like they are famous for their fried chicken. I have attached a link to their menu, which appears to be limited to chicken, spaghetti, burgers. I miss Burger Baron, but I am happy to see something opening in the Quance Street location. I wish them luck!

I assume they focus on Filipino expats of which there are probably close to 10,000 in Regina now, especially if you count second generation. It is like putting a Tim Hortons in Afghanistan when the Canadian troop were there.

I've heard Jollibee's is going on Quance also but didn't know that it was at that particular location. It's a bit odd that they would open in the East end considering most of the Filipino population is in the South end as well as North/North West.

There is a posting for manager at Quance St. location on their website. It guess it makes sense for them to open in a location already built so hopefully they can do better there than Burger baron did.

Anybody else getting hit with pop-ups while visiting this site? I'm using Chrome on my work machine and I keep getting re-directed to bogus Google contests etc. I thought it was me but it's just this site.

Turned off my ad blocker to see and I'm getting bogus Google content popups as well.

People still surf the web without ad blockers?

But yes, I've never seen odd popups.
