I agree but Come on lol. You can hardly see them. I think when it's all done it will be even less noticeable

Agreed with both above comments. Yeah the spandrel isn't great, but it won't be overwhelming. Ultimately, this will be the secomd nicest tower in that above panorama.

Also The Pacific will be vying for top position here. Should have a good angle on its facade (one side the balconies and the adjoining side (to officedweller dismay) windows and lots of spandrel panels.

Once the grid is painted, that's probably true,
but the spandrels in the grid (or elsewhere on the south side) could have been darker, like they are on the west side of the building.
But maybe they'll be less visible when the window blinds are installed.

Yeah, just revisited the renders and there will be spandrel stripes up the tower of varying width.
Hopefully they will be reflective enough not to stand out so the horizontal banding on that side will dominate.

OD you're normally quite unflappable but this extra spandrel has got you fired up!

I don't really mind it, and understand it was very likely for energy code reasons, but would have preferred no spandrel for aesthetics of course.

Only because it's supposed to be a landmark building and I can see the spandrel even when driving across Burrard Bridge.
The design should take into account the energy efficiency needs as a cohesive design, rather than as an afterthought.

Haha, you guys are the best! I have also noticed this building bringing up a completely new side of OD. I suppose it only shows that we are all humans, even the forever rational OD.

I am with LC on this one and don't mind the spandrel at all. Building is turning out great and so far and meets my expectations for a Vancouver landmark. It's not a high bar to meet but here we are.
