As for Guiyang, its a city in central China. A old Chinese capitol I believe.
So I suppose the Jury is still out as to whether they stay or not. The rumour was they were definitely leaving in 2019. Perhaps that was incorrect or maybe they have reversed that decision. Keep us posted.

Looks like AC is delaying OGG, now resuming Dec. 15 instead of Oct. 27.

I suspect this is just the start of the winter changes related to the MAX groundings.

My guess is they put a rouge 763 on YYZ-YYC at couple times a day and one of those frames goes on to OGG.

Unless there's further changes, the flights are completely removed. Not yet been replaced by Rouge.

They still have CUN / PVR and SJD all showing the Max in November.

They will likely delay the seasonal start. But the MAX won't be back till likely early spring 2020, so won't be flying through most of winter is my guess. I doubt they'll want to cut YYC-OGG entirely.

Yeah, I’m doubting they cut the route entirely. I guess it temporary being rouged isn’t out of the question.

WS must be happy as they’ll now have a monopoly on the route for the first part of Winter.

HU again has removed discounted fares over winter. Only full fare business and economy class fares available. Summer 2020 is presently unchanged.

Hmm... I see all Mexico flights share a mainline 319 plane:

Code:
AC 976	319	37	YYC - SJD
AC 986	319	246	YYC - CUN
AC 988	319	15	YYC - PVR
OGG flight becomes mainline 763.

The MAX is still showing up in schedules for both AC and WS in January/February. I just can’t see this being resolved soon. Expect more changes soon.

The schedule with 319 had been extended until Apr as of last night's update.

The same applied for YVR. Seems like there won't be MAX flying until at least end of April

I was going to say Sunwing was the first to cut the Max out of its schedules until after the winter. Huge risk at the moment showing the MAX flying in the peak winter. It's a big gamble either way but this is just dragging on. If the tentative deadline is October to determine if it can fly again, imagine finding out that's not going to happen with Xmas only two months away. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

So AC is now following suit until April I guess. Prudent move.

Westjet, your move!

Having Max’s in the schedules - there may be a legal reason for this. Scheduling based on best available guidance and then if it is missed, costs may be owed.

Lets hope for both AC and WS that compensation involves dropping some of the MAX aircraft on order but not built and getting good deals on 787 aircraft.

The money they both save can be used on C-series aircraft.

WS appears to also be slowly removing the Max from its schedule in November/December.

MBJ has been swapped to a 73W. NAS/BZE still show 7M8.

Mostly curious what they intend to do with Alberta-Hawaii as all of it other than a few frequencies to OGG are still scheduled on the Max.

Likely more 789 frequencies or possibly 767. My guess is they will keep it on one aircraft though to avoid confusion with the amenities of the plane. The 789 looks intentionally underscheduled in Winter for this reason.

Worst case, they can route via YVR.

767 is fully scheduled in the winter (unless they make additional changes). There is some slack in the 789 schedule, so maybe 3x weekly OGG, and 1x weekly HNL?

They were smart to not market/announce the YEG-HNL route as it will probably be cut.

In other news, AC is adding A220 service on YUL-YYC from Feb 1, up to 2x daily.

AC is pushing out their max8 schedule adjustments because they now have a pickle of simultaneously onboarding 2 new aircraft types, each with an aggressive introduction schedule.

Where AC is ahead of the curve is that all their pilots on the max 8 must go through the full course. Most importantly AC has the infrastructure (sims, trainers, etc.) to handle all pilots going through the full course. No one else in north america has this infrastructure capability. There has been public speculation (including coming from our Transport Minister Garneau) that regulatory agencies will require pilots to go through the full training and the max7/8/9 will be a separate certification from the NG series. If this turns out to be true, then every other airline besides AC will have a tough time getting their max aircraft back in service inside of 18 months.

One question, what the conversion process for 737NG sims to convert into max8 sims. Is it just the computer components or are the new systems on the max?
