Regardless of who they're working for, there will still be a lot of health bureaucrats who could potentially fill the space. There will still be some parts of the WRHA left, and Shared Health could find it more appealing to use a modestly priced existing building vs. building new space.

Maybe a floor in Sutton Place would be their dorm? Agreed that it needs to be right besidet the school as these are not students who often have evening dancing.

Never say never but as of last week the future state plan for Shared Health is to consolidate at HSC. WRHA already has its Corporate office which they clan to consolidate some of their services into.

I guess if there's space for Shared Health to move into at HSC it could happen, but the climate isn't looking all that great for capital projects, especially non-clinical, non-essential office buildings...

We kind of have two discussions going. But it's noted the new RWB residence will be immediately adjacent to the existing facilities. Someone also mentioned it will be 225 Carlton.

They’re all over the exchange too... looks like either a conference did it or some sort of vigilante tourism group / BIZ. They’re made of coroplast, they will not last long. I’ve long said good wayfinding is sorely needed here.

Back to Wawanesa. The building is great but as Vike mentioned, it's hard to fathom that not a single parking stall was eaten up by this tower (ok less those like 10 that were next to the residence.

Just to jog everyone's memory, here's what we're up against in terms of parking oceans. For fun I drew some lines that represent some of the longer ground level sight lines through downtown. Bearing in mind that there are a few areas where it's only a handful of lowrise buildings, these sightlines get even longer if you manage to climb a couple floors. This is what creates the big empty windswept feeling in lots of downtown.

The yellow lots represent projects under construction. We have a loooooooooong way to go

225 Carlton is the residential building at TNS, tower 2.

Speaking of health care. My newborn son is currently in NICU at St. Boniface. He's doing well and should be coming home soon.

But the nurses, wow are they just the best people. They actually care, and even though they try not to, get very emotional because they really care about there work.

They are getting treated like absolute shit by Pallister. We're only catching small bits from their side of the story. But hours have been reduced for most staff. They get bumped around or basically lose their jobs. Good nurses leave the province for work in other locales because of it. Sure Brian P is gung ho to save money, but we're losing good people, and reducing health care where it's needed most. Everything is being rushed because Brian P is a private businessmen trying to run the Province like his insurance company.

Yes. They could rent/own suites there. It was mentioned by WPG GUY in the other thread, who seemed to be on top of the news for this development.

Edit: It will NOT be located there. My apologies.

Leasing in TNS is wildly expensive, from what I've heard. Can't see that being within reach for RWB.

Congrats on the the new child, best wishes to your family.

Those maternity wards are something special and the nurse's really seem to do outstanding work in those departments. I won't comment on the shuffle as this isn't really the thread for it.

That map looks very disturbing, but there are only really 5 major spots that need to be filled.

1) the lot at Carlton and York, across the street from RBCCC

2) The long stretch on Donald between York and St. Mary

3) The Sky City lot on Graham

4) The other lot on Graham

5) the lot on Fort between Graham and St. Mary

Parcel 4 is in the works and some have mentioned shovels could be in the ground for some of the projects by the end of the summer. The rest are smaller or less significant and can fill up once the others create a good density to downtown.

Nothing is happening with the RWB principal building...just the residence.

Don't the Richardson's have some eventual plans for that lot on Westbrook and Portage East?

Also, where are these 1200 Wawanesa employees going to park?

If you build it through TNS you get a 5% discount on building costs.
