With that out of the the way, there seems to be an extreme urgency for posters to start the new Winnipeg Construction Thread, I applaud the initiative and eagerness.

With that said, this will be the Official Thread when the time comes..not yet...
It will be Locked and opened again when the time comes. Other premature starts will be removed.

The $20.6-million venue, currently called Winnipeg Soccer Federation North, is slated to open in the first week of July.

The field is fresh, the lines are bright. I’ve been in soccer for a number of years now and when people see that there’s 360-degree seating — that is the type of thing that makes people really happy.”

Construction began last April on the building, which will be managed by the Winnipeg Soccer Federation. It will have a FIFA-sized pitch, 16 change rooms, a concession and pro shop. There will be meeting space on the second-floor mezzanine, which boosts the overall square footage to 165,000.

Sorry I forgot, the 330 St Mary Ave Re-Clad/Exterior update..Can't remember if they were well into the project or waiting to start..
(extreme image size warning) but it's all about that slanted portion of the building..lol..

Fine looking building from this angle...Colliers also has some interesting office space available on the same page..(^ link).

Slanty slanty lol. The other side is also slanted. It's actually quite a feat having the building cantilevered like that. Wold be much simpler to just have it straight up and down.

They're just getting mobilized I think. Seen they have some fencing up, that sort of thing. Not sure if they've actually started anything.

They've got a staging area set up in the parking lot between the building on St Mary and the red-headed stepchild building on Hargrave but nothing else is happening yet.

Good description. Those buildings are part of the same complex, yet they don't resemble each other in the slightest.

BTW nice pic, Cyro. That building has aged well for an early 80 build. Compare with others from that era like... 360 Main.

Far be it from me to disagree with Trueviking while agreeing with Riverman, but the residents of Norwood Flats have the right of it. It may be a leafy enclave on the river, but it's also a central neighborhood, and its residents tend to be aware of that--hence their YIMBYism over a larger residential complex, and hence their stonewalling of Santa Lucia expanding their parking lot. It's a city neighborhood and more residents will benefit it. A strip mall accounting firm will not, especially when it's a kilometer away from the largest concentration of office space in the city. You know, downtown.

While the proposed building looks nice, it's more suitable for Roblin Blvd. than for one of the major routes into downtown. Come with something more suited for a city setting and the community may talk.

The existing house is unique, and together with its neighboring bungalows and this complex down the street: https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.87885...2!8i6656?hl=en it gives that stretch of St. Mary's a bit of a Los Angeles vibe. Like you'd see The Dude ambling up to the Video Cellar or Coronation Bowling.

I work in the stepchild building and can attest that not much is going on there in the area of improvements.
We haven't even had the windows cleaned yet this year and the faux-stone walkway out front is crumbling.
Last year there was talk of a re-done lobby on the main floor as well as a gym for tenants of both buildings but it's awfully quiet on that front right now...

The re-clad will take two years as there was some issue with "engineering". Maybe they'll move on to the step child then too.

While personally I think that an office which looks less house-like would be a better and more appropriate choice for the site, I have a feeling that anything larger and more urban in nature would rile the locals up even more. Number Ten's design strikes me as a reasonable compromise... a small commercial development on a site which has little appeal as residential property.

I took a look the change.org petition and there is a weirdly large number of out of province signees.... I can't honestly say that I care how someone in Boca Raton who left Norwood in 1962 feels about the matter.

Canada's Diversity Garden has a tentative start date of 2017 with a two year timeline so sometime in 2019. Maybe include that in the original post.

Thx.

Mostly done. It wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be.

The ones U/C that I'm not sure of are the condos./apt. on Stradbrook / River Ave.

I go near there on a regular basis but not along those streets directly anymore.

Also anything in the north Exchange District I never go near like Ross Ave. etc..., so I'm clueless there as well.

Should Edgewood Estates apts. in N. Kildonan be included the list?

Lots of nice projects on that list... I still cannot get over how ugly that gas station theatre thing is. I hope it doesn't get built! Would be nice to see a redevelopment of that corner but good god that thing is ugly!
