$1.2billion.. Man, good for them. Kenney better get his 🞵🞵🞵🞵 in gear and get some money.

Yes, it’s amazing what different levels of government can do when they work together and co-fund big projects. Alternatively, one could just pick a fight with the feds and see all the dollars fall off the table.

Ha. So true. It doesn't matter if other cities get funding for major projects while Winnipeg gets left in the dust. What matters is that Pallister wins his fights with the other levels of government, just to show everybody who's boss.

So you are blaming me for extra large parking lots everywhere?

The point is that parking lots are generally much bigger than they have to be, given that many have spots along the outer limits that probably don't get used for years at a time... unless Riverman parks there.

Parking lots are generally the size they are needed to be. Everyone forgets about the holiday season. This doesn’t mean parking couldn’t be more efficient, think Metrotown in Vancouver. The entire mall has underground parking beneath so you don’t need to use up as much land for parking. Mall, Walmart, and other big box parking lots are already hell to begin with during most of the months November and December. Could you imagine if they shrunk the lots?? Ha ha ha.

There are a lot of people like me who don't drive washing machines. Many nice cars park on the perimeter of lots to avoid costly and unsightly damage. I care about resale and how I look. Don't you?

I wonder what the hold up with Hyatt Place Downtown is? 138 Portage east had been talked about becoming a hotel for a few years now.

I'm not sure that catering to your behavioural quirks is the best way to make planning decisions.

Your comments suggest there is always a supply of unused rows in parking lots... that tells me that the lots are simply too big.

That's not my problem, or yours. When you start paying taxes on said properties, then you have a say. Until then...

I posted something in the thread about the Hyatt being one of the 5 in Canada that may not be coming in 2019 according to a travel blog.

Exactly. We should be getting outraged over the fabric on bus benches or something important like that.
