Huh? Brandt isn't looking for a head office. There has been zero announcements of Canada Life leaving anyway.

I didn’t say Brandt was. I asked if it would be a good location. Not sure if you remember the rumors of the Rose Street Office Tower proposal a couple years ago and how Brandt was a possible tenant.

There's now a fund municipalities can apply for funds to clean up brownfield sites. With only $178K in the fund, I can't see that being enough to fund many clean ups.

Maybe the province needs to look at regulations to make it harder for gas stations and similar to walk away from these sites without cleaning up.

Such legislation already exists. Upon closing a gas station, the owner must fully remediate in a very short time. The problems are with legacy sites from decades ago. Even on these, the owners remain liable if they are still around. Even with cleaned up sites, big companies often choose to leave them vacant rather than risk liability to new owners. Also they put so many conditions on any sale, it makes it a tough sell.

This fund is not intended for brownfields owned by Shell, Esso, PetroCan, etc. Those companies are already 100% liable.

Canadian Blood Services on Broad & Broadway is looking to sell and move to a new location. Could we see them move downtown? Somewhere served by a transit would be a good idea.

$178K is just the current balance the intention it will grow as fines are paid by polluters.

Heard from a few people that Daytona Homes is about to Officially pull out of the Regina market, letters to be sent out, if they haven't already to contractors. Any truth to that? DReam next i'm assuming... What a crap shoot housing construction is in this city.
