Yeah, RFP said they need 50,000 square feet and the building that is mentioned by CJME has something like 30,000. Not to mention it is downtown...which is not something that is probably needed for a place like a school board when there are options available on cheaper land (with a larger footprint). Never mind if they need to do a lot of shipping and receiving, which is not optimal in a downtown location.
The public school board seems to have a decent location in terms of size and place. Whenever a organization like this (which should be striving to save public money, or put it to better use on things like, I don't know,
education of children) wants to have an office in a higher-profile location, I always wonder if it's a vanity project for the board or administration rather than based on a solid business case. What argument is there for spending more money on downtown land for an organization like this that is basically self-contained?
