I would honestly just remove river's access to bishop and have bishop flyover it coming off the bridge. The area is a little tight for an interchange to function properly.

That would have to be done in conjunction with the st Mary's/Dakota interchange which would be combined. That would force some people to drive a little longer to go west but river has no business hooking up to bishop.

^ Space is not an issue at all, there is more than enough room for an interchange with River.

What I mean is the merge lanes would probably cause weaving with the pembina interchange. Depends how it were built I suppose. A folded diamond would be best but the corridor may be too narrow for that.

The ROW is deceptively large. Space would not be an issue regardless of whether it was a diamond or a folded diamond (which, I agree would be preferable).

The only area where there might be an issue would be the southeast corner, but even then I would be confident saying that there is plenty of room for diamond or folded diamond

rumour is that the old car dealership being demolished on Portage near Sherbrook will be a climbing facility. No idea what it looks like, or how much of the site it will fill. Hopefully not a big parking lot.

that's a huge piece of property and would require new build to become a climbing facility. good for the area I guess? maybe it's partner with west broadway youth outreach next door? or maybe it's a Youth for Christ style building?

At any time. A good example is the neighbourhood across from the RRC main campus. When RRC tripled parking rates a few years ago it became a long walk to the school from the car, as much as 20 minutes some days.

We got a notice a few weeks ago that our indoor parking at City Place is going up in March. The portion I have to pay is going up to $80 from $40 a month.

The state of the casino situation is interesting. McPhillips and Regent have grown since they opened about 25 years ago. But apart from adding smallish gaming rooms near the MTS Centre as a defacto subsidy for TN, no new casinos have been added since.

At some point a third casino will open up, but to the province's chagrin it won't be MBLL that's operating it. Perhaps it will be a FN-run casino out around Kapyong or somewhere near Kenaston? Or perhaps out by Assiniboia Downs instead?

The proposed plan of survey and rezoning are needed to accommodate the proposed
development, which primarily consists of:
 adding 72 guestrooms on six floors to the east end of the hotel;
 relocating some parking to what is now lawn, in front of the hotel;
 removing some shrubs; and
 planting 26 trees and 409 shrubs

Wow, you get heavily subsidized. I think those spots typically cost over $200 a month. I'm curious, do you get taxed on the subsidized amount? It is supposed to be a taxable benefit, Hydro got into big trouble a few years back from Revenue Canada for not taking the tax off for their employees. I think they were fined a substantial amount which led to them cancelling subsidized parking and began the busing in from their Taylor office. The moral to the story here is, if you aren't being taxed then keep your mouth shut and hope the CRA never notice.

Yes our parking is a taxable benefit.

I think if your employer is part of the Winnipeg Transit Eco Pass program you get taxed on that as well.

I'm not sure....would this be seen as competition for the "Shark Club" gaming area? Would there be demand for two "downtown" casinos?

I can almost see a third casino at Assiniboia Downs to try to support the race track. I know they have some VLTs there, but a casino/hotel might be workable, especially if they can try to draw customers to events at the Exhibition Park with the hotel.

agreed, Peguis is already quite involved with 🞵🞵🞵 Downs, so makes sense to develop it there

There are a lot of nearlydeads in west Winnipeg so a casino would make a lot of sense there.
