Saw that Colliers lists the location of the Granville station halfway between Granville and Hemlock which seems a lot farther than I was thinking it would be. Also that site is occupied by 3 buildings. Can anyone confirm this?

Did my own research and saw this:

Given that there will be an Oak St. station and no Burrard Station seems like they've got the wrong side of Granville.

Putting the station between Granville and Fir on Broadway would mean the station is 950m from both Oak St Station and Arbutus Station. Perfectly in the middle.

Those are larger buildings tightly packed together though and price to buy them would be killer. Perhaps if they allowed for development ontop of the station the Owners would go for it.

The VSB building is right there across the street, wonder if they can just convert part of it into a station.

I think we've covered this before. TransLink would've been better off buying the half-empty building on the other side of Granville (in front of the trolley stop), or at least the dim sum place (beside the alley).

I only hope that there are plans to add density on top of this station. I hope we don't get another Olympic Village Station. There is a shortage of office space and the high cost of housing. If they don't build something on top it this will be a true waste of a great opportunity to build a great mixed-use facility. If it turns out like say how King Edward Station turned out I would be o.k. but still, hope Translink and the city are thinking about these sorts of things.

Should be massively boosting density in the whole area. Granville and Broadway is almost all commercial so if we build condos above the commercial then we get few complaints from NPA voters and tons of density around a major city centre. Preferably with 2-3 floors on the bottom as commercial.

If they can't have a building entrance to the Millennium Line at Granville St., at the very least they should build a staircase entrance on the street. If they reduce Broadway to 4 lanes (which is part of the city's plans), they will have enough space for it.

Rather than this I would say an entrance at the sidewalk infront of chapters similar to what’s at Granville and Hastings. Looks like there is room for it.

THIS!!! Seems like a weird spot they've identified there. Cambie to Oak is already a short hop.

It was in some urban design presentations for the area made by some of the transportation planners. The goal is to 'humanize' Broadway after the Millennium line is extended. To me it makes sense; right now Broadway is a traffic gutter and having so many lanes won't be necessary with the improved transit. The whole street will look more like how it does through Kitsilano.

You may be confusing Broadway with Lougheed. Sure, it's got a whole lot of traffic, but it's hardly anti-pedestrian right now.

Go to Broadway and Cambie and tell me that intersection is pedestrian-friendly.

It's not the worst, but it's also not the kind of street people enjoy walking down.

Walking down Broadway is fine but go North down Cambie past Broadway and its not the best. That right turn to get to the Wendy's from Cambie is painful.

Granville and Broadway is the same. Both Cambie and Granville feel like they weren't meant to be walked down (North) past Broadway which is weird as its the path to the bridge.

PS: I drive down Broadway almost daily and we definitely need all the lanes even if the buses are gone. Plus the street parking is really useful for many customers and businesses. The bike lobby got voted out so I don't think this could pass.

How is it a joke? With the Millennium Line Extension, you are adding the equivalent passenger capacity to 20 lanes of vehicular traffic. Even if you get rid of 2 traffic lanes, it is still a massive gain in terms of people moving capacity.

Getting rid of the 2 lanes means much more space to make Broadway nicer with potential bike lanes, sidewalk patios and better street trees. Honestly, they should have done something similar when the Canada Line was built for Cambie.

The streetfront? No worse than the rest of the city; the east corners could use a redevelopment, but that's got nothing to do with the street itself.

If we're talking about the intersection, that's not anything-friendly, because it's way too busy. What it needs is a pedestrian scramble.

Fixed. Bikers already have 10th. Good point about the trees, but I'm not sure how tables and umbrellas add anything to Broadway.

As a driver I avoid Cambie at all costs. As a pedestrian it's fine, I don't see what the fuss is about. Yes Broadway and Cambie is busy, but it's 2 big roads intersecting at a very busy transit station. There's no perfect answer.

As for cyclists, they are a non-factor in this area. But of course the usual suspects will take cheap shots at them.
