The problem will be that if you want to leave Costco and go down Victoria Avenue then two of the exits are useless because you'd be making left turns across the big-box-land traffic. I'm sure it will be a wonderful experience, as well as getting in and out of the McDonald's drive through if you, know, want to get somewhere else fairly quickly.

With Costco being further east, what are the chances of another Costco setting up somewhere on the west side? (GTH?) Yes, sales need to achieve a reliable threshold.

A Costco going up in Coopertown is inevitable. I suspect we're ten years away though.

I don't see any money for transportation other than public transit:

The province’s previously-proposed share of the pot includes $416 million for green infrastructure projects, $307.8 million for public transit, $115.9 million for rural and northern projects and $56.2 million for recreational projects.

I'm so happy it's for public transit. We spend far too much time and money on promoting a car oriented lifestyle.

We need to push our express routes to every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes. Dedicated lanes and priority signalling. More cross town routes. We desperately need better transit.

All good projects except for the interchanges. The City should be directly funding, without subsidization, any and all upgrades to roadway infrastructure for vehicles as they specifically levy and collect development fees for this purpose.

As someone who lives in Cathedral and works downtown, I'd like to see an actual properly designed protected two-way bike lane on 13th going from Lewvan to Winnipeg street, and another on Lorne Street from Sask Drive to College Ave. This is exactly the type of public infrastructure that this federal funding was envisioned for.

Its time Regina moved out of the 1960's and actually focused on making a better City for people instead of cars.

They've posted 3% ridership increases last year and this year and project the same for next year. But they could have higher sustained growth in ridership with the changes you propose.

So I noticed yesterday that crews were closing off the 2nd turning lane into the airport on northbound Lewvan, putting in a permanent concrete curb. When they redid the intersection 1-2 years ago they put in a second turning lane, and now they are removing it (without it ever having been used). Any reason for this? Seems like a waste of money.

There have been many complaints about the condition downtown sidewalks on this forum. The cost of replacing sidewalks in this town has skyrocketed, which is likely the main reason for the lack of attention. Over the last few weeks, the City has been remediating the sidewalks on 12th between Broad and Scarth. From what I can see, they are chipping out damaged areas and then completely resurfacing the sidewalks and curbs.

I would assume this is a pilot project. How many years will the new surface last?

IMO:

• cost run-ups in the boom years that have not reversed;
• lack of competition in ready mix concrete (for example Lafarge now owns Cindercrete);
• lack of competition among contractors;
• Labour cost increases for City crews (mostly pension and benefit costs);
• rebar price increases;

5 years ago the City claimed the cost was $500/metre, including demo of the old sidewalk.

Blame the airport authority. They sabotaged the project and refused to fund widening the bridge over the storm channel.
