So as far as this 3 tower proposal goes I don't mind it at all, they are unique and will ad to the mixture. I just look forward to more detailed renders before I get to excited or write them off.

I really like the Allies and Morrison Yorkville Square proposal but have you seen Safdie Architects concept? Love it but I think Sky Habitat Toronto would look best on the Redpath site:

Agree. This has so many things going on and none of it looks promising. Top notch materials can't save this design concept. They should start over. The original was much better but didn't like the atrium space at all. Hoping we'll see design #3.

M-City phase 3 condos. New tallest for Mississauga, appears to be 82 storeys, designed by IBI Architects.

That's pretty grotesque for where it's located. 35 (33 maybe, around that) year old homes across the street, fronting onto Burnamthorpe road. The design looks fine....for somewhere in Toronto like Etobicoke or North York, but it wouldn't fit at all in downtown or central Toronto. The height is interesting....I'm curious about the NIMYs that SHOULD be out to criticize this development. (I know some folks in those homes who are already unhappy to lost their view because of M City....but they weren't critical of the development in meetings...seemingly)

Sorry, was showing how Yorkville has a decent mixture in styles when it comes to it's high rises. That mega proposal would have ruined it's look imo.

As someone familiar with the neighbourhood, those homes are nothing special.. so the fact that towers will now envelop them and draw attention away from them is a good thing.. the design of this tower is interesting but I'm not as impressed as phase 1 and 2 with the design.. Also, if you're gonna be Mississauga's "tallest".. i think the design should be something that'll blow the Marilyn towers out of the park.. and so far the only thing about this tower that does that is with it's height. i dunno, maybe it's just the poor quality of the render. Nevertheless, i'm pumped about how the whole development will turn out.. hopefully it'll add some much needed urbanity to the area.

Are these towers M-City phase 2?

Yeah, I'm guessing that standing out from a neighbourhood of typical single-family detached houses is sort of the whole point of these towers, and the whole point of the Mississauga City Centre district in general.

My previous comment on the homes was more related to how awkward the transition would be between those homes and these towers. I wasn't saying they were great homes at all...they're snouts, and just what you'd expect for a suburb. This whole M City thing just falls flat on it's face IMO. Unless they integrate some retail, bike trails, and some okay usage of intersections in this community, it'll be more utilitarian than City Place. Part of me wishes they'd build an office component to the site, but that's more of an issue with the city than anything. (I personally don't care what happens with M City, but I do understand what would help the community with this development.

It is really weird with how awkward the transition between suburb and urban style development is with M-City, but this is honestly true for all of MCC. The area was definitely not intended to become the downtown centre but it did anyway, which is why there is so much in the way of awkward placement of 50s towers being shoehorned in next to detached homes. It would be neat to have office as a part of the M-City development too, but you're absolutely right about there being a city problem making office developments unattractive. However, I figure it's not far off.

I think this crazy scale of development will lead to the eventual redevelopment of those adjacent neighbourhoods into high density condos and apartments as well. I can't imagine that people with suburban living in mind would want to live right next to what will probably be one of the busiest intersectons in Mississauga in a few years.
