At the most recent Southwest RT open house (April 26th, 2018), I was told that these are purely conceptual. I was told they would announce the proposed routing just after the election or in early 2019.

It seems the city hasn't decided how much service they are going to keep on Pembina itself. With the province no longer kicking in the 50% transit subsidy, Transit is getting pretty stingy with service.

It's so absurd for the province to reduce transit funding as RT is finally coming online properly, which they contributed to. As downtown and other areas densify, the combination of more people and less parking means we should be increasing transit funding, not decreasing it. It's ridiculous.

That’s the conservatives for you. THey want to look like they balanced the books. But they didn’t mention that they’d be cutting just about everything in the city. Conservatives don’t care about the city. Never have and never will.
It’s funny though since 75% of their tax dollars come from Winnipeg. We should be getting 75% back.

Yup. On the other hand, the NDP balanced the budget by borrowing more money. Somebody has to pay it back some day. I'm not disagreeing with you in essence here but let's not pretend that any party is any better than any other. They're all shit with budgets. Of course, eventually with the NDP model, you wind up having to pay it all back at some point and cut all services to do so. Just ask Greece.

If the Liberals can show some semblance of competence, with a "smaller government, more services" mantra (ie: play to PC and NDP weaknesses), they could make a big impact next election.

It would be good to have more competition in the election race and maybe a minority government sprinkled in there from time to time. I think if the Liberals do anything next election it will end up helping the PC's by splitting more of the NDP votes.

Yeah 3 parties is good, and a new opposition could be a breath of fresh air – you're definitely right about splitting the left vote, however with the path the NDP is seemingly on (and losing St. Boniface), who knows... NDP could end up being the ones with 4 seats in 2020.

MORE politicians? Cause we don't have enough of them squabbling about partisan issues constantly.

Aside from unionized public sector workers who does the Manitoba NDP cater to anymore?

When are the conservatives lowering PST again? Serious question. Also sorry for non-construction related topic.

In their second term or at the end of the first term.

I walked by the Dreman Building and wondered whether they ever converted the basement office space there into parking as contemplated a couple of years ago. I never use that parkade so I'm not familiar with what has gone on in there... does anyone happen to know?

Yeah, using the "carbon" tax to replace it. In September I think that kicks in.

Yes and no, notice Carbon Tax and the Personal Income Tax Exemption match each other in revenue over the next two years? Carbon Tax will bring in $120 Million (estimate) this year and the $1,010 PITE will cost the government roughly the same ($120 million) and next year the Carbon Tax will bring in closer to $240 Million since it will be in place for a full fiscal year. Next years PITE will go up another $1,010 and cost the government another $120 million for a total of $240 million.

Yeah, instead of spending it on things like electric buses, which is what it’s for.

I find you super amusing because you’re such an ultra conservative caricature. Hard to take you even remotely seriously for that reason.

Maybe they don't support this lacklustre (a popular term in the late 1980s) BRT.

I guess they'll be bringing in The Swedish Chef from The Muppets (second from the left).
