Can't deny the height, which gives a lot of SSPers a 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵.
Just not sure how anyone could compare this to Vancouver House.

Because Klazu called this project ugly, and I think Vancouver House is uglier

Brentwood town plan ends at Gilmore, so I wouldn't expect a high rise to pop up and block the views from upper floors.
Obviously not, because they NW corner is the hydro substation. Except may be the White Spot corner which will only partially block it.

too bad its not at a higher site, being lower than brentwood etc, will it still look as high being at a lower spot?

I don't really care for the design but the height will make up for its lackluster facade. It certainly is tall and BC needs a tower like this, regardless of how it looks, to serve as a catalyst for a super-tall in the future (even in downtown Vancouver which will take notice).

I was calling the tower design generic and only the podium corner ugly. First one is just stating a fact, as there are dozens of identical towers in Lower Mainland alone. However, Vancouver House is unique design in the entire world, so that is quite a difference when comparing the two.

Where did you get this rendering from? I really hope that this is the latest design, as this looks SO MUCH better.

Overall it looks as if the entire project may pencil out at 7 FSR if all the commercial gets built (2.5m of residential, 1.45m of retail and office, on a 560,000 sq. ft. site).
I am not clear on how FSR's are calculated, but how can three much shorter towers on a fairly similar lot really be that much more dense than three towers that are almost double the height? I guess the math does add up, but this is hard to comprehend.

I wouldn't worry about losing east, south or west views from the upper floors in our lifetime. However, the Whitespot lot may pose an unpleasant surprise to those purchasing a north view. No plans have been posted, but there you have a risk.

Also the two 45-floor towers going up to the north of this will already be partly in the way, as they are on higher ground. But even then, views from this tower will be epic and last very, very long.

This post shows that "Phase I" includes the undeveloped areas under the guideway
- maybe that's why the FSR ends up being low.

Also, I liked the original concept shown here - with the balcony glass creating white stripes.

There are going to be 1563 units in all three towers, the tallest being 64 storeys with 643 units.

I'm not really a big fan of the site and design. For British Columbia's tallest it's surely not the prettiest. Even then I'd rather have these tall towers go on Willingdon and Lougheed to balance the skyline.

Once there are more and more towers around Gilmore station, will crows be forced to migrate to different area?

Can you tell us which building has sold out? Or has all of phase one sold out? Since it's not been posted anywhere whatsoever

Onni is selling tower 1 and 3 at the same time. Tower 1 is already mostly reserved, there are limited number of units available in tower 3 right now. 1 bedrooms have all been sold out on both towers. My hope is that Onni will increase the price by 10-15% when they start selling their signature tower 2 (tallest one).

So it would be likely that they start construction now. Where are the floorplans?

And have they actually sold them or just reserved them. Because why on their site it doesn't list the project as selling

Edit. Never mind you said sold. I don't know why onni still has it listed as "coming soon" and not "currently selling"

Why would they even bother updating their website? If you want to buy, you need to hire a VIP realtor for access.

Why would they avoid towers? I suspect it's going to the opposite, with bird poop filled investment balcony.

I need to shot em up... also, its so unfair that Brentwood got the Willingdon Linear Park. Gilmore needs something similar to connect Gilmore Place to Burnaby Heights

Not for that but usually developers advertise as soon as they can that towers have sold out

Shape pays for the linear park as part of the community payback . In this case Onni and those developers for Escala, Triumphe should get together to develop corridor along Gilmore , which is the most unwalkable strip.

Gilmore already has:
  • the bicycle route north and the multi-use trail south, intersecting with the Central Valley Greenway and running to Sanderson Way
  • Jim Lorimer Park and the path along the creek (not much now, but with lots of potential)
  • Willingdon Heights Park, with two new dedications - one from housing lots the city purchased along Gilmore (this is how land for the Willingdon Greenway was accumulated over decades), the other from when 1st connects to Douglas; I also vaguely recall that they're considering expanding the community centre

Willingdon has the new greenway and, well, traffic.

You are right Klazu. The condos on Wood Street/Yonge in Toronto has pigeon droppings all over their balconies, making the balconies unenjoyable. I know because I used to live there.

One guy I know has a pigeon poop issue at a condo in New Westminster - the strata strictly enforces a requirement for residents to clean up the mess.
