Yes. Ritz was said to be looking at opening a Midtown hotel before the recession. I don't believe a specific location was ever revealed. If it has The Ritz Carlton on it, that "secret" rendering may actually be outdated.
At any rate, a tall tower on that location would be a welcome addition. A couple of weeks ago, someone on the compilation thread did say they heard that 1125 has secured an anchor tenant for its office space.

Ambitious 18-story West Midtown condo tower proposed

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...s-18-story-west-midtown-condo-tower.html

Quote:
A Norcross development group is pitching a 279-unit West Midtown condo project, potentially the tallest residential tower yet for the rapidly changing neighborhood.

The proposal comes several months after Foxdale Development LLC went before the city’s zoning review board seeking land entitlements for the 18-story project along West Marietta Street. Foxdale bought the nearly 1.8-acre vacant property on the south side of West Marietta Street near Brady Avenue in September 2016.

Foxdale paid about $8 million, according to Fulton County records.

Foxdale's planned tower is near a 55-acre packaging plant in West Midtown that is being pitched as a more than 2-million-square-foot redevelopment, one of the area's largest adaptive-reuse projects yet. The 900,000-square-foot plant, with ties to the Atlanta Paper Co., could generate bids in the range of $50 million to $60 million.

Good Van Slyke Architecture is designing the tower, according to Foxdale.

Midtown’s Campanile building to add street-front retail

Quote:
Plans were just filed with the city of Atlanta to add about 60,000 square feet of retail space to the Campanile building at Peachtree and 14th streets. It would occupy two stories, filling in ground-floor space around the existing building.

“These new additional retail spaces, with exposure to Peachtree, 13th, 14th and Juniper streets, will attract discerning retail and office tenants that demand one of Atlanta’s premier addresses,” says the application submitted by Long Engineering. “The proposed expansion will seamlessly complement the existing structure to create an environment that simulates pedestrian activity for the Campanile project and Midtown community.”

Haven't seen any updates around here on the Dairies project lately, so I took some pictures while I was on this side of the neighborhood today:

It is such a phenomenal transformation taking place along Memorial Drive and I think Atlanta Dairies will only take the area to the next level.

Re: The Campanile renovation :

I know Dewberry is considered a curse word around here but I'm very happy to see this move forward. It, along with Colony Square, can hopefully help to bring some retail heft that Midtown has thus far lacked while less dense and less central intown neighborhoods are booming with it.

Interesting project. I'm a little surprised that it took this long for other grocers to try to tap into the Midtown market.

I always thought 1125 Peachtree and the lot just north of the Fox would be great locations for a grocery. Midtown will be able to handle a lot more groceries. It's just a matter of whether they build the groceries or not.

Most of the rumored grocery stores in Midtown were tied to buildings that haven't or aren't happening. I believe it was rumored that Eviva was going to have a grocer, as well as Yoo on Peachtree.

I didn't realize Yoo on Peachtree would have a grocery. I agree, both of those projects would be fantastic locations for groceries! Regardless of Eviva's design, filling in that lot during this cycle would have made a huge difference to the area, IMO. Feels like Midtown is missing a key piece that would make it feel that much more continuous.

Thousands more units opening over the next couple years and no plan for a grocery store except Whole Foods which it just a niche. Publix is going to have to start charging cover.

That Publix has to be absolutely slammed now that the over 3k NCR employees moved into the neighborhood(and there's like another 2k that will move into the 2nd building) along with the thousands of new units within a 4 block square radius.

Eviva would have been a perfect location for a Sprouts or sometihng of that sort.

Agreed. That lot is a gaping hole. I would take a boring 25 story Novare glass box with a decent street presence at this point just to complete the fabric in that section of Midtown.

But instead, the situation is even worse because Integral owns the land and is sitting on it...leaving an ugly parking lot in place indefinitely.

There were actually plans to put a Publix in Eviva. The Spring/PtreePl Publix is absolutely slammed at peak times. Don't go there at 5:30PM, and good luck getting a pub sub at noon.

Yeah I was in there about a month ago at 5:30 and everywhere I tried to shop I was just in someone else's way. Reminded me of the disaster that the Whole Foods at Columbus Circle in Manhattan is with the checkout line that snakes through half the store.

WF at 14th and Spring will help and there's Savi for small orders, but another grocery would make a killing in Midtown.
