Half of the lanterns have been removed (again) for some pavement reconstruction in the alley.

****

Just noticed that the trees (junipers, it seems) have reappeared on the roof of the condo tower.

It's inspired by ISBN bar codes.

Yup I noticed that they cracked a whole bunch of those concrete slabs.

Is the alley ever gonna open?

Not sure if this video of the building was ever posted in here. Shows some of the interiors.

The alley had been opened for a while now, although that huge dumpster was there 99% of the time. Only things enjoyable about walking through there at night are the fact that it's a respite from the busier streets, and able to look up to view the coloured lanterns, LED ceiling, and buildings around.

Now that remaining exposed white aggregate needs to be washed or painted so it doesn't get grungy so quickly.

Like the work that's going on at the alley, from where the 'Turner' sign is located, that aggregate is not part of the Telus building. It's part of the Avigilon Corporation building that's the over-skinned 1950s William Farrell Building. Telus sold it in 2015 for $42m, Avigilon have spent a fair bit in a further upgrades (with Turner as their lead contractor), and had an agreement to sell it for a reported $107.5 a couple of months ago, with a lease-back provision.

Has anyone noticed the CTBUH has this building measured at 167m or 548 feet? Some of their heights are subject to dispute I'm thinking.

Would it be overly cynical of me to presume that this one burned out light panel will not be fixed any time soon? And that there will be more and more burned out panels eventually and the whole thing gets a really gap toothed look to it.

I feel it is Canadian culture.

I definitely noticed how relaxed and less (for lack of a better word) professional people are in Canada regarding finishing touches after living abroad for several years now.

You see little stuff like burnt out lights in signs, poor markings on roads, improperly installed fixtures, filthy cabs, etc...

Canadian culture / the Canadian urban realm does many things much better than the other places that I have been to, but this is one area that could use a little refinement. (sadly with individual narcissism seemingly on the rise and the growing idea that any form of obedience and cohesion is bad, I fear things will likely go in the opposite direction)

The work on the second skin on Seymour Street continues to continue. There have been a number of missing glass panels for a while now.

I'm assuming they are leaving that section open because of the vents?

Yes. I wonder why they couldn't have put in some fins to obscure the old part a bit but still keep it open for the vents.

I guess about four and a half months isn't enough time to get the broken panel fixed. They even filled in one corner with a bit of wood. I've walked on it a few times to see if I could fall through.
