I just walked there Thursday evening when the lanterns were all lit and the lane was so clean. I guess it has reverted back to the original downtown Vancouver back alley, complete with discarded cardboard, broken bottles, excrement and urine.

the alley does act as a shortcut to georgia street, other than that...

Also acts as a convenient place to place dumpsters.

Seems more likely that most of the trash flew out of the dumpster over the long weekend when it was windy. Vin seems to have a vivid imagination if he can see
broken bottles, excrement and urine"

As long as the renovation at the old William Farrell building is ongoing, I have no expectation that the alley will look much different. More often than not the alley has not been usable during weekdays when I go by because of machinery and work going on so I rarely cut through that way.

Is there a door in the windowed alcove on the left?
That 's supposed to be a whiskey bar or something like that?

The taller alcove in the distance just past the garage doors.
They'll need a big projecting sign to signal their presence.

I see some tagging has made its way there as well.

Seriously ifs the city really wants to revitalize alley spaces, they are going to need to improve their game when it comes to waste management and general cleaning in this city.

A huge tag was recently removed at the back of the Kingston hotel but that stayed around for months. Very unsightly.

Great of you to blame Mother Nature for the mess.
But nope, I actually saw excrement when I walked by there after the weekend. It doesn't matter if it's windy, there should be people picking up filth along all alleyways. That should be part of the law.

And who's going to pay for this army of alleyway garbage pickers? You?

Hmmmm..... let's see... how about taking the thousands on non-productive welfare and give them a job, give them a sense of community contribution?

I have always thought this too.

In Japan many retired people clean up the streets part time. Also shop owners seem much more vigilant in cleaning up the areas around their shops.

Also, children have to clean up their schools everyday, gives them a good sense of community and respecting for their surroundings at an early age. maybe something Canada should think about...

Well United We Can already does that in some areas of town with grants/local company funding.

It appears that one of the lighted panels of glass on the Robson sidewalk has broken.
