That said, it's fine to put a mural on a cinder block wall on an alley. It would be an affront to put one right on Adelaide and Notre Dame on a wall that actually has some quality materials. Next time Hydro builds a substation, they'd just cheap out with cinder block or metal siding and hire a kid to throw up a mural... it's a bad precedent.

It's fine to make an entire half block of a neighbourhood a giant blank wall but quality art that livens up an area is bad? Ok. I can't believe we;re settling for "a wall that actually has some quality materials" as sufficient for the Exchange.
Yes, there are a lot of horrible murals in the city, like the ones on Corydon and Sargeant... but real quality street art is exactly the thing that should be promoted on that stretch that will now be forever desolate, bordered by the Hydro station, Towne Theatre's blank wall, and the Calvary Parking Lot.
