Also they have the new 365 by Whole Foods. I wonder if they will bring that store here. looks good. Perhaps that's what they want for City of Lougheed?
I don't think they're doing anything with 365 at this point.

wouldn't surprise me if it was louboutin opening up. Can't think of any other "footwear brands" that would take that area (at least luxury ones)

Not sure if this will be the name of the new Tom Lee Music store if it's just an ad slogan:

Probably just an ad slogan, I doubt they'd change their name here. Pretty excited to see their new space!

It is just a slogan. If anyone is downtown and wants to see their new neon signs go up, it's happening Sunday night.

With so many lux stores waiting to enter the downtown market, I wonder if the developers doing the newer projects such as Telus Garden are regretting not including more commercial spaces in their developments. The extended area above Glowbal restaurant could be a lux store gallery, with escalators connected to the ground floor. The area is also close to the shopping hub of Pacific Centre mall. Well, now we need to see what Holborn will come up with at on the Bay Parkade block.

Unfortunately, second floor/off street level retail is a real tough one in North America. Upper level of Telus Garden would definitely be a no-go.

In an oddly dated link from a new post, @RobsonStreet Twitter says two new stores:

https://twitter.com/RobsonStreet

In the space that was HMV:

Reigning Champ – Store Opening
Projected Open Date: 2017
Address: 1148 Robson St.

In the space that was Tommy Hilfiger:

2. NYX Cosmetics – Store Opening
Projected Open Date: May 2017
Address: 1092 Robson St.

It's all about the design. The new Brentwood mall's main access is going to be an upper floor, although I do realize that works well with the above-ground platform of the Brentwood skytrain station.

The second floor of Telus' podium facing Robson was supposed to be retail but no one would take it so they converted it to office.

I think we're already explained that to you, but why let past facts get in the way of a good rant right Vin?

You also realize that there are no lux brands there and none planned right..?

Big box is definitely different than lux brands. Big box pays little rent and is much more amenable to taking compromised space.

Finally, confirmation of UNIQLO's first Vancouver-area location at Metrotown.

Like I said, it's all about the design. I don't think Telus Garden was designed to put any prominence in retail. Half-ass retail design don't work with the major retailers.

And they say malls are dead? With the facilities and space, suburb cities are attracting all the nice stores lately.

Attracting a bunch of mid-range stores you mean? That seems normal for suburbs....

And confirms what my friend working on it told me last year.
Took them long enough!

The Vancouver Sun story describes a 20,630 sq ft space.
Based on the rendering, they'll have space on the "ground level" and space on the "lower level".
The lease plans show the lower level space (former Home Outfitters) as 31,250 sq ft.
- so Uniqlo will only be taking about half of that space (plus space on the ground level above marked "vacant")

That plus the approx 7 chevrons for sale in van too. That's good to see. Would be great if there was a site out in the valley that could take the contamanated soil so these sites could get develope faster.

Although, I wonder why the former gas station at Davie and Burrard hasn't started any redevelopment. That station closed down almost a decade ago.
