Exactly. The same seems to apply for most airport reviews on that site. However you'd hope to have minimal negative reviews for a brand new terminal.

There's certainly some truth to that. Which is why benchmarking against peers is typically used to get a true and fair picture of customer feedback via social media.

Unfortunately... on the same site...

Portland PDX
Lots of recent reviews, almost all in the past two years are 10/10 with very positive, glowing comments.
http://www.airlinequality.com/airport-reviews/portland-airport/

Vancouver YVR
Lots of recent reviews. Wide range of comments. 2016 rankings have some complainers giving 3s and 4s, but many positives with 8, 9, or 10 out of 10.
http://www.airlinequality.com/airport-reviews/vancouver-airport/

(For Edmonton, there's an insufficient volume of feedback for comparison.)

Calgary YYC
Since the Oct 31 opening, a single truly positive review, two okay, and a barrage of really bad. Lots of peoole giving 1s, 2s and 3s out of 10. Overwhelmingly negative, with similar themes. Their ratings are almost the inverse of PDX's, with a surprising number of ones.

When YYC is faring worse than many of its peers on the same website, it would seem to reinforce that YYC does have a customer experience problem... and that it shouldn't be ignored

The same 'comparison' idea holds true for airline reviews on this same site. You could look at Air Canada Rouge on that site and write off the almost exclusively bad comments by saying "well it's just a bunch of cranks and angry people". But comparatively, Rouge is hated, Air Canada mainline is tolerated, and WestJet generally liked.

Posting gate assignments so early is convenient for sure, until a gate change is required. That's where CTG (and posting the gate at an appropriate time) comes in handy. If an airline needs to change a gate assignment, then one isn't having to shepherd all the guests down the hall!

Has the Westjet summer 2017 schedule been finalized? My information is saying no. Until finalized and new destinations or increased frequencies are announced, it is all speculation. Just my initial quote is speculation.

The YYT narrowbody European flights are by general convention excluded from the overall Canada to Europe analysis. This is true for both the AC and WS.

In any event, the continuation of the YWG-LGW flight rather than building the Hub in YYC is a loss for the new terminal.

So tomorrow, I fly into YYC, and then out internationally the next morning. I'm wondering how to survive CTG without having to make an angry post on twitter.

Thanks in advance.

Remember to fill your water bottle in the food court.

Also say to yourself over and over "I don't want to sit down, I am going to spent the next n hours seated on an aircraft. I would rather stand and streatch my legs."

Have a safe flight. The issue with YYC is not that the airport design is evil. It is not, it is that it had to potentially to be so much better and that will all the negative feedback, the authority is not taking action to improve the situation.

It is still better than many US airport.

The Florida gun murders at FL airport just reinforce how it can be exceedingly dangerous to allow guns on planes, irrespective of them being checked. Think it would be a good thing to ban them on planes completely.

I don't know if that's practically possible. I think that plane carrying a weapon should be prohibited from carrying ammunition for that weapon though.

Logic doesn't work with suburbia.

Among many other public, busy locations. This is not an air travel safety problem.

You're right, of course, but I can see such a change as I mentioned happening.

While current Canadian regulations allow you to transport ammunition and weapons in the same overall container, ammunition must be packed separately in its own sub-container, and I do not believe that magazines are considered suitable. Someone would have to manually load rounds before doing anything, during which time I'd hope someone would be able to subdue the person.

So I survived call to gate without issue. Not sure how much better the new security system is though.

And when did they start getting so anal about the 1L bag rule for liquids. I travel several times a year and didn't have a problem before.

Since at least April 2007...

http://www.fodors.com/community/united-s...-you-using-for-liquid-carry-on-items.cfm

I travel several times a year and am asked 90% of the time to produce the bag (well, when I'm not in NEXUS or TSApre)...

If I walk speedily from A to D do I pass near a food court where I can fill a water bottle?

I've never had it happen - twice this trip.

Maybe Air Canada will change their policy on firearms paperwork. Currently they require the firearm case to be physically opened infront of the check in agent to put a declaration form inside it. I find this not just annoying and unnecessary, but also in appropriate for a public setting.
