Living Hope Alliance is such an eyesore. They've spent exactly zero on landscaping over the years despite being a rich church. How hard would it be to have the congregation team up to plant a few trees after Sunday service.

It's what happens when you create a truly suburban church with no interest in being part of a community. And did you really think they'd spend the millions they got by selling their excess land to the developer on looking half decent?

And when it was built (pre-2002), it had absolutely nothing around it at all. The church could have done some landscaping alright. (I used to call it "Losing Hope." Lol!!!)

After it was built, that church was desperate for $$$$.

I think HomeInMyShoes is just referring to the Golden Mile Fatburger. There's no other ones planned.

FYI It's going into the Extra Foods building after they convert it into an outdoor mall space.

I'm very familiar with the church. They traded their architecturally fantastic modernist church Hillsdale Alliance to Heritage for just the land. And they built the crappy box and ran out of money as you say. At least they finally were able to finish the sanctuary with their development land money. But the property remains an embarrassment.

Fun Fact: they used to own the land at 4950 Pasqua Street too.

Anyone know what's going into the space next to Grandma Lee's in the Holiday Inn downtown? (former "antiques" store). They're currently renovating, adding a counter of some sort, specific colour palette, etc ... so I don't think they're simply getting ready to lease, I suspect the space is already leased.

Not exactly Regina related... But I'd support hiring some Japanese engineers/construction companies... For the CP project as well as for general Regina road maintenance.

Took Fukuoka a week to repair a massive sinkhole that developed. Wowza.

THere's some more info in the LP article:

Of note, they claim the crane will be in place by this January and another 7 or so months until they reach ground level. It also gives some reasons why they are behind schedule. Proof is in the pudding with this project though, so we'll see if they meet any of the milestones they've highlighted or not.

I noticed the last retail spot in the newest Cantebury Garden building has a leased sign in it. It is a bigger spot, anyone know what business is going in there?

Looking at the Viterra restoration, and having discussed the future of the building & company with a couple folks who work there, it's clear to me that they'd prefer to concentrate in the tower to the west of the heritage building (due partially to the condition of the heritage building - which presumably is better now - and partially due to Viterra's shrinking Regina workforce).

I wondered if Sprout (which is in the Viterra building now) would have any interest in moving into the Albert/Vic corner of the building - doesn't look like it's being finished for a restaurant/retail, but I also haven't stopped to take a peek in the window.
