I hope Beer Bros takes advantage of this opportunity. Their space is disjointed. This makes it strange from a customer's point of view (at least 5 distinct spaces: Deli, Dining Room, Pub, Patio, Events Room... plus the kitchen & storage areas); has to be a logistical nightmare for staff (moving between different spaces, keeping an eye on guests, having a public hallway bisecting the business); and staffing must be brutal for management (need to maintain a staff member in each of the areas during opening hours).
If they could get rid of the hallway, that would be a big step in the right direction. Even better would be a complete reno to make the place into essentially one space - using design elements to divide areas off for private bookings, a bar area, etc... think Earl's or The Keg. Both are essentially 2 closely-connected spaces: restaurant & bar.
And despite the fact I go to the Deli, it's never really worked, and I think it got worse after the closure & reno. Alfredo's kitchen/take-out space was typically busy, but the downtown options are more diverse now, so the Deli just doesn't work... and there's very little foot traffic in that area).
