Hey guys.

I am looking for new construction projects that are in the pre-bid stage. I work for the Regina construction association and am looking for projects that have not gone in for tender yet. Should I post a new thread on this or can I just start a conversation about it here?

Naming the Adult Campus (nee Wascana School) after Allan Blakeney is especially appropriate, given that he lived just 2 blocks from the school (on Elizabeth Cres).

Ottawa's roads are usually clear to the pavement in the winter - worst case, within a couple hours of a storm, they've got a bit of water on them. So for these buses to be a problem in Ottawa, assures me that they'd have a tough go of it in Regina. Ottawa has since phased out articulated buses in favour of double-deckers (partially because they perform better in the winter, and partially to address congestion... double-deckers obviously take up less road).

I thought it was discussed somewhere else on here, but can't remember where... If I recall correctly, it's not a "stand-alone" in the true sense of the word. It's staffed by subway employees or something like that... Still tip-toeing around that whole union issue.

Easiest way to find out if it is a "stand-alone" or not is to see if you can redeem a reward there. You can at Chapters, but in my experience, you cannot at the various grocery store locations

The Labour Relations Board ruling still stands [background here and here] - so this is not a corporate-owned Starbucks. Short of the LRB ruling which extends the union certification to any Starbucks within Regina being quashed (not likely - it's stood for 11 years); or Starbucks choosing to open a location & establish a collective agreement (not likely), Regina won't see a corporate Starbucks. We'll see more partnerships like Safeway & Doubletree locations, though.

Moose Jaw is getting a corporate SB on the Crushed Can site, Saskatoon has many... so I assume that SB has just decided Regina isn't worth the hassle (I don't blame them).

I wouldn't be surprised to see corporate Starbucks opening bedroom communities near Regina like White City or Emerald Park, though.

Which has been good for Regina, in my opinion. It's allowed local coffee places to take hold and flourish. I'd rather have local establishments like Brewed Awakenings and Le Macaron any day over Starbucks.

I saw they've announced the restaurant going into the new Fairfield Inn will be an English-style Pub and restaurant. I forgot to note the name of it though. Has anyone else seen the sign?
