I didn't mean to suggest it was a
bad location. It's not at all. But in terms of getting a project of this magnitude off the ground - where so many stars have to align - it's not a slam dunk location either.
The neighborhood is definitely trending upwards, but like I said, the momentum from Market East is centered on 11th and 12th Streets at the present moment; east of 11th Street is still full of junk stores and parking lots, though there are some bright spots (DiBrunos, Rosa Blanca, Aqua, Jewlers Row, Century21). I'm not sure why there is any disagreement here - the sad state of Market East, particularly the numbered streets and Market and Chestnut between 7th and 10th has been discussed here many times.
But anyway, my point was that a project this large would go a long way in connecting the gaps between Wash West and Market East
if it happens [edited after Curbed article posted].
