I agree with Jebby. Outside of downtown we should only allow towers near skytrain stations and in town centres. Everywhere else should be midrises.

Not sure what to make of the obvious shrunken buildings to make the tower look like One World Trade Centre.

Must have been made at an offshore rendering farm lol.

Thanks for the renderings.

The Gilmore one still looks the same as the renderinsg on the Chris Dikeakos website:

http://www.dikeakos.com/projects/high-rise/gilmore-avenue

The Sussex one looks sharp.

The tower's podium in the rendering is go oversized it actually goes out onto the street and continues on the next block

A rendering has been released and Polygon wants a piece of the action in Brentwood.

And there will be new town centres....New stations will also start popping up too. So be prepared to see a lot more tall towers outside Vancouver.

Not sure how I feel about the name 'Vittorio,' but who knows maybe they'll change it. On a different note, I really hope with all these towers getting erected they soup-up Lobley Park, it's a really sad looking place right now.

That corner is going to be pretty busy with construction activity over the next year or two, especially if Tranca's own project for the corner of Nelson and Imperial gets approved ( they're in 3rd Reading now, I believe).

Midori is already under way with the crane just having been erected, and Polygon's second tower project is now going for rezoning, while Amacon seem to be gearing up for demolition and possibly excavation soon.

It'll be a densely packed block with seven 35-42 storey towers once they're all done.
Which is a bit funny when you consider it's sandwhiched between a park on the one side west of Nelson, and the lowerises and firehouse on the other side and the SFH's down south of Imperial street.

More likely they'll be replaced by midrises (or newer lowrises) east of Malborough.

Going by the Burnaby plan to have high density around (major) transit and skytrain stations and then taper to lower density as you edge away, and lso considering that most of what's going up around Royal Oak right now is new lowrises, I don't see them allowing any tall towers the further east you get from Metrotown.

I could be wrong through, but I suspect they would prefer more density around Kingsway, just north of the mall and the area south of it in between Beresford and north of Imperial first, before allowing rezoning for higher density or taller towers anywhere else.

I'm just surprised that so much density was able to get in those lots between Nelson and Marlborough this quick.

Does anyone know if there are projected developments on the block between Kingsway and Bennett (the block the LifeLabs and the London drugs are located), or even Newton and Kingsway (the block where the Chevron is located)?

Both are Metrotown "Core" - so the answer should be "yes"
- as to when, who knows.
It has been suggested in this thread that the Chevron site could be a good site for a convention facility.

Sorry are you referring to the Esso? The Chevron is East of mall ~ across the street from the London Drugs.

I think the Esso site would make a better site for an office tower. Maybe both?

Oops - yeah - Esso.
Both of Burnaby's Metrotown hotels (Hilton & Element) are within a block of it - so good site for conventions.

It's a performing arts centre. There was an article back in 2014 and I found another from May this year that mentions it, so it hasn't been dropped. Someone found a reference to it potentially being located at Kingsway and Willingdon.

Btw you forgot the Holiday Inn at Station Square - that makes three hotels in the area.
